One of my friends didn't get in, though I think he should have and he's wondering about appealing after visiting the campus. Is it too late to do it now? His GPA is ~3.9 weighted, 1390 SAT, EC's, etc. Chances of getting into civil engineering?

1390 out of 2400? i doubt appealing will work out for him with that low of an SAT score, unless he has a REALLY good reason behind it.

I kind of agree. If SD practiced holistic admissions like LA and Berkeley, you could argue the bad SAT with some sort of reason, but with this system, a low SAT cuts down on a lot of points. Why do you think he should have gotten in? What would be the basis for appeal?

I don’t think the OP is asking whether the appeal is likely to be accepted. I think he’s asking whether it’s too late to send on in? I’m curious about that as well.

Never mind–according to UCSD’s Fall 09 Appeals doc, the post-mark date for freshman appeals was April 15. But for transfers I believe it’s May 15, so before anyone considers Tama21’s friend’s chances, would this friend be a transfer student?

1390 out of 1600, not 2400, my bad. Overall it was an even 2000. And thanks bunburyist for the info, he’s an incoming freshman. I guess that’s done with haha.
