I'm almost positive that I won't be getting into UCSD, ( GPA 3.37 for Bio) so I want to get my appeal ready. When I went to the UC website, it says this for appeals for UCSD:

UCSD
"Applicants who believe an error was made may write a letter of appeal. Applicants must write their own letters. Transfer applicants should include updated official transcripts from each of the schools they have attended."

For all the other schools it says that a student may appeal if there is "new and compelling evidence". So what does UCSD mean when they say "error"? Do they want us to tell them we think they made a mistake and that we think they actually did admit us?

What could we possibly write in our appeal to convince them? I'm confused :(

If you are that dead-set on UCSD you could probably spend another year at your cc and sign a TAG for next year. At the same time you could take some easy transferable classes and raise your gpa.

Dang. Well, I didn’t do a TAG because I decided too late in the game. I would personally love to stay at my CC for another year, but my parents want me OUT! I guess I’ll just have to hope for the best Thanks for the replies everyone!

my tag situation is iffy, coz im not sure if i have one…i dont think i signed it on my actual app…but can you use that reason as an appeal?? i met all the requirements stated on the website for having tag…

Why do you guys think your GPAs are too low for UCSD? 3.37 doesn’t sound far off their range (heak it even sounds like it is in their range). Or is your major that competitive over there?

Your four hundred signatures have nothing to do with appeals. I dont know where you heard to do that but the appeal process can be found at the UCSD website. If you are really worried read up on the procedures so you know what you have to do. For now though stay positive you still have a shot.

The appeal process doesn’t work because you got 400 of your buddies to sign a paper and you still did not get accepted? Lol?

Appeals do work, if you are appealing for the right reason, not just because you want to go to the campus. They ask you to have new and compelling information for a reason. Obviously if you do not have anything new to show for yourself, you will instantly be thrown in the reject pile.

I think if you have strong, new information that hasn’t been presented in any part of the application, they will consider the appeal. Remember, NEW, STRONG. [: They don’t want you re-clarifying or re-stating! >__<;;

daniel 31 and cali trumpet: i actually read on an old thread on this website that this guy got 300 people to sign a petition and that’s how ucsd reversed their decision and accepted him. so i did the same thing
