Apple Mac College Deal

For anyone who might be interested, Apple is offering a nice deal for college students, staff and faculty now through September 8. When you purchase a MacBook (any kind) or iMac, you get a free iPod Touch, which sells for $229. And though they don't really publicize this, the fact is they'll apply the $229 to ANY iPod, so if you'd rather have the Classic or another model, you just have to pay the nominal difference.

Not only that, but customer service at Apple was SO nice, that even though we bought my son his new MacBook a couple of weeks ago, just before the promotion started, they extended the rebate to him, as well. He was very lucky...he netted a free printer AND a brand new iPod. You can purchase directly from Apple or through your school's computer store. We went through the NU store and got an additional $100 student discount.

Anyway, if you've got a student and are looking to make a laptop purchase, it's probably worth checking this out.

And, for those parents whose student already has an iPod…my DD “gave” me the iPod!, along with downloading some of my favorite songs as a gift to me.
If you have not had a chance to visit the school, Apple maintains a store on campus in Norris, as well as downtown Evanston. We placed an order with our local Apple store, and then picked up everything at Apple in Skokie(that was the closest location when DD was a freshman…)YOu might check to see if that is an option with the NU store. That way you do not have to pack the computer and ship it to school.

Just bought one last night on line for my D, and I got the I touch. Great deal. Just waiting for it to arrive.

I’d advise you guys to hold off getting aluminum macbooks for a bit…they just updated the white one, which means an update for the alum ones is probably coming soon.

everyone and their mom has a macbook at Northwestern…just saying

you should wait one more week before buying. the WWDC is coming up, and they might have interesting updates to the ipod or mac.
