Being SCEA will help things along, I would have to believe that brings it to the top of the pile. No direct knowledge of that, just what I would think based on priorities and the desire to respond to the students that are most interested. But with thousands of applications pouring in now, there is really no predicting.

S had transcripts mailed last week and file was listed complete yesterday.

Thanks … sounds like it should be posted real soon, hopefully next week. I had sent office of admissions an e-mail, but got a stock e-mail back from one of the interns that they have no ability to check on status until it’s entered into Gibson, which is what we’re all waiting for. :-)

Still waiting on a response from Tulane, but over the weekend my son received a big envelope from admissions. Of course, we got very excited and when he opened the envelope, there was a Tulane hat in the envelope with nothing else! I suppose we should consider that a good sign, but it is a bit confusing. Anyone else get a hat?

I think getting the hat is definitely a good sign…maybe their version of a likely letter?

LOL, I wouldn’t go quite that far. It probably is a response to something her son did while researching Tulane, or maybe just for applying. Hard to say.

Once the website indicates that your application is complete, what is the normal time to see the decision? Thanks

They only promise Dec 15 for EA or SCEA, and April 1 for all others. Now if you are a clear accept or clear deny, you may well hear sooner. Last year some were as fast as a couple of weeks, but they got their complete app in very early and, again, were easy decisions. The later it is complete, the less likely it is that they can get to it that fast because the numbers get really big, or least they have the last few years.

Thank you very much.

fallenchemist do you know when they tell us decisions for spring transfers?
I need to accept enrollment for other schools by November and I still haven’t heard anything form Tulane…which is my top choice

mrgrape - I thought they prioritized those, actually. I would definitely give them a call right away to see where you application stands.

FYI … found out my D transcripts actually sent out via mail on Friday 10/15. Her status was updated as complete yesterday afternoon (10/25). So, given the both the US mail delivery time and the 4 weekend days included in that time frame, Gibson was actually updated fairly quickly. Now we wait for her SCEA decision! Soon I hope, she’s a NMSF, 4.0 unweighted GPA, 35 ACT. She’s very excited and anxious, and we’re excited for her! Good luck everyone!

Goodness Dad2ILD, with those stats you have nothing to worry about! I hope she is applying for the Deans Honor Scholarship (full tuition). She would have an excellent chance.

What kind of projects are they looking for in the Dean’s Honor Scholarship? Anyone know?

What kind of projects are they wanting?

They want whatever reflects you and your creativity best. Projects have been very wide ranging in the past, and a few really just abandoned the box altogether and they still got it (or so they claim), although I am very hesitant to say that is a good idea. Just try to avoid cliche and obvious things like “thinking out of the box”. Think of an idea or two, let them percolate for a few days, then go for it. There truly is no “mold” or “standard model” that has worked best. As I said, I have seen things as opposite as can be that have succeeded and, in my opinion, been extremely clever.

Gibson just reported my son “Accepted” YEAH! Now we are hoping for a scholarship. His school doesn’t GPA or rank. SAT score 2180. Hope he is eligible!

FC … thanks for the encouraging words. She is applying for DHS and is working on her App for that now. We visited campus last Spring during our break, and we loved it. Can’t wait to come back, hopefully, once we’re making final-final decisions. :-)

thecrew - with a 2180, assuming grades are in line with a score like that, I would definitely think significant merit money. You will know very soon.

Dad2ILD - cool, good to hear she is going for it. It is a great campus, isn’t it? Some travel site recently ranked it in the top 10 to visit. Hard to argue with when you throw in New Orleans as part of the package.

May I ask what his academic average is like? On whatever scale his school uses?

I got a 2180 on the SAT as well. My school doesn’t rank or use a GPA scale. It uses a 100-point scale. My school is highly competitive and I did very poorly my first two years, though I’ve shown an upward trend. I’m still on the absolute lowest end of the grades spectrum, but I’ve got two killer recs, a really thoughtful/revealing personal statement, and a lot of ECs. I’ve visited the school and separately emailed the admissions counselors as well.

I just want to get a sense of what kind of chance I’ve got, so I’d really appreciate it if you’d reveal what his average is.
