yo, you guys are academically gifted... you got into penn! i'd kill for that when it comes time for me to apply.

btw, i suck at counting and sightreading. if you give me a fairly intricate piece (that i have never heard before), i guarantee i will play like a fool. districts auditions - top 10ish solo score, fair scales considering i flat out didn't practice, and sight reading were like pfffffffff. i'll probably do better if i listened to a recording or have someone hum it out for me and play the basic theme without the music.

I actually did hit a ball with my flute one time...it was like a fuzzy/soft ball type thingy that my friend threw my way...all I remember is screaming "it's going, going, gone!"...and then, it missed my band teacher's head by a milimeter or less...MUWAHAHA - 7th grade memories, gotta luv them.

I was driving with my dad today...and I guess he decided to blast Chinese oldies while the other cars pumped Chingy...sigh...I guess this is kinda good compared to last year, when he drove around the neighborhood blasting Chinese new years music in the middle of Jan....

but when i do apply, it'll probably be ed since i live in pa and that give me a greater chance than rd (assuming my test scores and grades are good then).

lol another one of those parties at "chinese college friend's house with other college friends" type deal. potluck. cards. karaoke. oh but gotta love the hong bao. i remember back in the day my parents actually made me kneel down and ke tou.. some kind of weird power trip im sure.

canadia... i am in central jersey, hunterdon county, and no i'm not rich if u know the area... i'm about the same as you, i'm doin the mendelssohn, i just finished the kreisler, i'm in the regional orchestra for hunterdon county, and i'm like 4th stand? eek bad number first violins... and regionals yea... haha, 5th highest solo score in 7th grade for 7-9 but my sightreading was horrible, i was like 54 or something when the cut off was around 38*

Man, our concert band probably has never even heard of a violin, let alone Felix Mendelssohn. I always wanted to learn the cello, but I started playing the cornet at seven. Shucks. These, friends, are the disadvantages of living in a redneck town with uneducated peers. God save the music.

hao, late note.. u shud've played drums. counting, sight reading.. hey, ur good to go!

hey cu are in region II or what? idk how it's divided.. but u did say central.... which means u shud be rehearsing right now ^^

oh man i'm really gonna miss orchestra next yr. it's never gonna be quite the same. u know, never gonna be concertmaster again..

chinese new yr.. unlike most of u, i'm... still in chinese school. i get to be a host this yr, as a sr! whoooo whole school gets to hear my bad chinese! we're having a chinese school chinese new yr thing w/ food & performances n all that. but family-wise, notin. =( i want hong bao!

yea region II, but the thing is, i chose not to audition this year, whats the point, my sight reading will just screw me over... chinese school? i feel for you, i got to quit 4 years ago

i heard that pa states orch was actually worse than the preceding regional orch b/c in regionals, u have the kids whose teachers are like from the philly orch, temple, curtis, and such but when u get to states orch, u have people coming from regions up there in the mountains/rural areas who have no access to these prominant teachers and they basically suck but they're in states b/c they gotta be represented.

have you guys ever gone back to China again for Chinese New Years? I remember it was definitely the best times ever but after I came to the US, I never had a chance to go back to China during that time. I really miss it lol

unfortunately, no :'( because 1.) i have school and going back for just one week is too short and 2.) the tickets are so goddamn expensive during the holidays! it's like $1000+ for a standard class seat.
