Applying for a Community Service Scholarship?

Anyone visiting Tulane today: COME WATCH THE CENTRAL CITY DANCE TEAM PERFORM TODAY IN THE QUAD 4:45!!!! Tulane students have been working with these kids after school and on weekends for months. Come cheer them on! This began as a community service project by a CSS recipient.

That’s cool that they are doing this during Friday’s on the Quad. Should get a nice audience. It’s a great project.

Many of the Tulane students teaching the kids, driving the kids to rehearsals and back, buying them pizza and ice cream, raising money for the team and choreographing the dances are NOT CSS recipients. They participate just because they are good people with something to give. Tulane attracts that type of student. And that’s why I advocate for Tulane.

It would be interesting to know how many of the service projects Tulane students participate in for their service credits were programs actually begun by Tulane students and/or faculty. I know there are a significant number of Tulane grads that stay to continue service work, and not just because jobs are hard to find.

Do they apply for the CSS every year, or is this for incoming freshmen only?

incoming freshman only and if awarded, they get $15k/year. In the past, it was rumored that the amount varied, but I believe it is now $15k/year (not to exceed the cost of tuition)

Thanks Vitrac! My son will be working on it this weekend. :)
