^don’t lose hope hongkong. You aren’t supposed to do the admissions decisions, thats Cornell’s job Don’t worry about it and wait for your decision and hope its well, it’s in the past! Stay positive and hope for the best and maybe that that hope will become true.

xhongxkongx: hang in there! From what I’ve read on cc and on cornells website it’s not just about grades. If u show a passion for the school and major in your essays that a huge plus!

Lol. Hongkong dont worry too much well as castiel says its them who make the decision :)

I appreciate the support, but my mid-year report will give the office of admission an impression similar to this one: “Oh it looks like he’s going down hill, I don’t think he’ll be a good candidate” and just fling my whole application, which is composed of my blood, sweat, and tear into garbage can or even worse…the shredder

I know I still have two chances after this one, but one rejection letter can really break you down especially if it means a lot to you.

its really hard to tell what the admin committee will think. i mean if all of your grades have gone down by like 2 or more letter grades, then i can see why you’d be nervous, but still, they look at ALL factors of your application. i really dont think your midterm grades will make or break you. cornell really stresses passion, fit, and potential :)

My application was forwarded to committee today, but today I faxed one more supplemental essay. Do you think they are going to add my essay to my application credentials?

what do u mean another essay? like one in addition to the ones required on the application? are we allowed to turn in extra essays?

Excuse my grammar I’m typing from a touchscreen phone it isn’t exactly as easy to type w/ perfect grammar. Just shifting through the scrren lloking for periods and commas and going back to fill in missing letters is extremely annoying. I did think this thread was somewhat informal, obviously I made an invalid assumption. I appreciate the criticsim, and I am not here to make enemies especially if I came off that way at first. The majority of you seem like really cool people to get to know, based on your posts. I probably blame the apprehension for coming off soo negative at first but I am passed that. Forgive and forget?

@ irony: thanks for stating my chances as “miraculous”…ill be more than glad to let you know my status when hotel students find out in mid may ( I back checked as many threads as I could for hotel acceptances and the earliest thread posted was a rejection on May 12th, but that was 2007.
As a side note, what’s a PM?

Ooh irony, I’m not trying to come at you in anyway. In fact, I appreciate the advice since you have been through the process before, its comforting. Incidentally, I did the same thing for my two essays as you said you were going to do in last years fall thread before you applied for spring, we’ll just have to wait and see how it works out for the Hotel School.

P.S.-I know my grammar is terrible but its this phone, it evn misses letters and whole words (or I forget to type them cause I can’t see what I typed till 3sec after.

Pm= personal message… duh***

@brndname: You have not made any enemies. Thats is not what CC is about. You helped alot of people by being honest :-).

I really want to go to Hotel school.

actualy brndname, i think given your stats, you’re probably in haha, but still, friendly/nice is key through this stressful process forgive and forget it is, if you’re willing to do the same

Glad to hear that.

I agree with really wanting to go to the Hotel School comment

@irony: Yes will do! ;p

quick question: so it seems like we should be getting our decisions through both snail mail AND email?

or does that only apply to CALS applicants?

when i applied for spring transfer to CAS, i only got my decision through snail mail (unfortunately a thin-envelope rejection)

I got e-mail from Cornell that I have to send actual mid-term grade report saying I am in quarter system; did it happen to anyone else who sent unofficial transcript?

Ironic, when did you hear of your acceptance from Cornell? Late April? It doesn’t mean that if you’re not hearing from them soon, you’ll not be accepted right?

To Brndname: do you know when we will receive the decisions from Hotelschool?

@winonanot
***!!!
CAS gives rejection only through SNAIL MAIL!!!
that sux T_T
IMAO they should notify rejects early tooo so that I can at least take a rest from this stressful process…

Ironicallyunsure, you are hoping that your Cornell reputation will mean something. It is not reputation of the college, but your college performance that will determine job search or graduate school admission. There are many bright students whose parents cannot afford to pay the private universities.
