Applying for fall of 2010 Cornell

@weirdon: As far as specificities are concerned, no. Like I posted earlier the earliest notice someone on CC ever posted was dated may 12 and it was a rejection. Hopefully acceptances come in earlier though. I would project the first week of May, at earliest, I doubt they will get to it as soon as CALS did. Anyways, a month or so, not too bad I dnt think, and the interview date for internal transfers is the last day of classes, so I don’t think they would release decisions until they have completed everyones application.

good. no need to check my e-mail much anymore. :stuck_out_tongue: (assuming that all decisions from cas are through the mail)

I just spoke with a transfer counselor, and he said they had already begun sending out decisions, and would continue to do so until around mid-May. He said there was no real priority given to applications submitted earlier, but if your application was submitted earlier there is a small chance you’ll receive your decision earlier.

wannabemd: most private universities give 100% FA to bright students. The Cornell reputation does mean something and it will stick with you for the rest of your career/life. So it’s a name worth pursuing, dont you think?

I agree with Friday. Achievements and activities will speak for themselves but the reputation the school has established is unique to few schools and people all around the US and abroad respect it.

Youtube.com is helping me get through this waiting game ;-). Check this Cornell video out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYBcU-pyy-k

Earlier when I said I spoke with a transfer counselor, I meant specifically a counselor from the CAS. So, those of us who applied to CAS should be getting our decisions soon

nice, I don’t know why hotel school is very slowwwwww.

@ Bermed
do u know how soon ? aaaargh cant wait

i hate this waiting, although i’d rather wait longer and get in than hear back sooner and be rejected.

bermed, do you know how will we get the decision? via mail or email? i am wondering cuz my mailing address is in China, and it would take a coupe of weeks for the mail to arrive :(

I called admissions today to check on something I faxed over and I tried to casually ask about decisions. The woman I spoke with said that the desicions should be coming out within the next few weeks and will be by snail mail.

LOL that youtube video is funny

How do I submit my mid-year report? My university goes by semester reports. I am currently in the middle of my second semester, so I only have first semester grades?!?!

Oh, never mind; they want indicators. Wow, I’m screwed. Doing horribly this semester.

I don’t think your case is unique because most schools work that way. You have to ask your professors now who have had you for about two months to give you an informal or (unofficial grade). Tell them it should be based on your current performance, considering your test scores, class participation, and attendance. I emailed my professors two weeks into the semester and let them know I was planning on transfering and that I would need a mid term report in about a month or so. I also had them read my essays. Many of them were helpful and actually helped me edit them to perfection. Also, many of them put me in contac@t w/ alumni in my school who went to the school to give me a more wholistic view of what the school was offering. When it came time to collect grades 4/5 teachers wrote recs for me and I managed to pull off straight A’s!!!

What if they’ll only be available by the end of this month (possibly even the first few days of May)?

^ brndname is right

sorry, i forgot who asked what but here are your answers: most decisions are sent via snail mail and the e-mails are actually rare. CALS seems to be the only school that ever sends out e-mails. i was rejected for fall 09 and heard in may, right during finals week. for spring, i submitted everything by the end of september and heard the week of thanksgiving.

the mid-term report shows how you are doing thus far. i think they know to take it with a grain of salt, though, because i submitted one of mine with 9 A’s and ended with a C in one of those classes haha. likewise, the other time, i had all A’s but one B and came in with all As/A-s, so they know it’s not set in stone. if you’re very worried, you can send them a little note with it saying that you expect to improve. you can also ask your prof to write that in the comment box under the grade line

wannabemd literally copy/pasted what they wrote into almost any thread that they could find that i wrote something about cornell in. i sent him/her a PM to see what the problem is. thanks for the support guys :)

Ironic, can I submit it by April 30th- May 5th? That’s the earliest I can get it.

^ yup. do what you have to do. they’ll update your file asap.
