Applying for the class of 2018 (College starts fall of 2014)

Got admitted to stony brook!!!

At least now I can wait for the rest of my schools in peace.

@Udyr2k14 Thank you! Good luck to you too :)

@bluelovexD I’m from LGS JT. And ooo great to finally meet someone from Richmond! How is it like there? I suppose the experience is great :)

@pkteen CONGRATULATIONS! But you stress too much, man :stuck_out_tongue: Chill out a bit.

^^ I know I do :stuck_out_tongue:
Duke interview in 10 days.
I hate that all the other schools I applied to are going to send in decisions so late -__-

@pkteen
Did you apply to Duke prior to December 20?

I HAVE NOW FINISHED APPLYING TO COLLEGES :’) Time to blurt out my stats so that you ladies can ‘chance me’. This seems weird.

SAT 2280 (R 800 M 760 W 720), great transcripts [1B in further math though], O-level: 7A*, 1A, 2Bs (pakistan studies and urdu). Top few among a batch of approximately 350, killer good recommendations, decently good essays (but not the blow you away type). 1st in math and literature at my school for two consecutive years. Conflicted about my major, stuck in between english, math and economics.
Extra Curriculars :-

  1. Blog for Children with 6 million unique and 20 million views. Blogger conventions and the usual blogging stuff. I sent them the link to my blog so that might help I guess.
  2. School’s english literary society president, lots of events and stuff coupled with this.
  3. Managed the Lahore Literary Festival
  4. Several LUMS PsiFi victories and 2nd in an event at the All Pakistan Math Olympiad GIKI
  5. 4 summers of work/internship at a printing press.
  6. PhD research assistant to my english teacher. I get paid yeaaaaaah ^^ and she wrote my recommendation.
  7. Know pi to 127 decimal places (I added this for some odd reason o.o)
  8. Walkathon and a fund raiser.
    This is the stuff that I have mentioned in my common app. There are other, smaller activities, but they do not matter I guess. Notice the acute lack of social work =/ Chance me for the top american colleges please :)

@overweight Yes I did.
@altolime I’m pretty sure I’m not the right guy to chance you. Actually, I don’t believe in the act of ‘chancing’ at all. I know you’re nervous, but you’ll get through it thumbs up
From a non chancing point of view, Your stats are quite admirable.

also, if you don’t mind me asking, which blog do you run?

Yeah which blog do you run? Dont say iE

@BHhazy LOL

@AltoLime, quite unlucky you got deferred with those stats I must say! Then again, the Ivies are more of a gamble now. You can improve your chances but you never know for sure!

It’s a bit hard to chance for the Ivies but if you’ve got any other colleges in mind, I’ll chance you to the best of my ability!

@BHhazy @pkteen private messaged it to you ladies. You better not unjustly call it your own -.- @dashyfreak made lots of blunders with upenn. Also, dream school is still WUSTL =P

Hello Everyone, I hope everyone has got through that agonizing period of college apps. Anyways, I have applied to 5 Ivies (Princeton, yale, harvard, Upenn and Dartmouth). I am not really hopeful due to my SAT scores but am ahppy about my recent offers form Ithaca and WPI with scholarships. Do you guys think it is possible to make into an ivy with a 1900 SAT score if I have killer recs, extra cirruclar and essays? I know there are many competitive applicants from Pakistan like Alto Lime :smiley: , but Last year my friend got into 4 ivies with an 1890 and a friend got into MIT and hAravrd with a 1950.

^ everything that I have done seems insignificant compared to the achievements of the ivy leaguers that I have had the pleasure of meeting. pkteen, who started this thread, is the kind of guy that mesmerizes the admissions comities. If you are anything like the friends of which you have spoken, you might have a shot at the ivies :slight_smile: good luck! All of us could use some good luck =P

^Btw, if you are from LGS JT, then I am sure you are in :smiley: I have heard they are expecting record-breaking admissions this year.

@AltoLime aww. That is so not true…

@AltoLime,ah! Better luck this time! I would consider WUSTL a match. :)
