How do you choose a 44k school (minus aid etc) over SBU (0$ due to UN grant)? Especially when your goal is med school.
This is my dilemma right now guys :/

Here’s an applicant for fall 2014.
I am from Pakistan. Need some guidance on my college decisions.
Have to decided b/w Vanderbilt and Stanford.
Anyone out there to help me out?

@determined2013 What do you mean? You couldn’t have gotten into both yet, and it’s too late to apply now…

Determined2013 seems to have applied to Stanford EA. Maybe he got in and then got a likey letter from Vanderbilt RD? Rare but possible!

I applied Vanderbilt EDII, but I am inclined towards Stanford. For Stanford, I have to roll over my EDII to regular decision. I wanted to know whether that will be a wise decision, considering my stats? I am a gap year applicant too.

To be honest, i personally think that ED or RD doesn’t really make a difference for internationals… the group is already so competitive that if the uni wants you, they will accept you in RD and ED… simply put, getting accepted ED at a uni means that you would have got in RD as well…the common misconception is that ED lets you get in with loser stats and for internationals that really isn’t the case.

That being said, both Stanford and Vandy are reaches for everyone. but you get a small step up if you arent applying for financial aid.
Good luck!
BTW at most colleges the ED2 acceptance rates aren’t as high as ED1…most unis accept 40 percent of the classes in ED1 and keep the rest for RD. and if a uni has ED2 then the size accepted isnt more than 21 to 20%.
