Anybody know exactly where the code in the steam tunnels is written?

This is a myth. Applications are read in groups composed of current Brown residents.

You shouldn't need a secret code to get into Brown.......
Just pull some other stunt. Some person gave us their friend's phone number on their app last year, thinking we wouldn't call. But we all did. Hahaha.

PS. Deadline is the 15th... Get on it.

bah i really hope housing keeps their word. I went to talk to them today and she said i should just turn in an app with the info filled out and a note saying I got in this year just couldn't live there. I think Gassmann knows of my plight anyways. I will be so p1ssed if i get my housing form back and it says gooch/dillard on it or some crap.

But yeah, there's no secret code, but I have heard of people doing very odd things to get in... that phone number one is good. I heard someone took a thick red marker and wrote "REVOLUTION" as the answer to every question, but most people get in with clever/quirky/creative answers to the questions, theres not really a trick to it.

Maybe what your thinking of is the invitation to live in Brown that they put in the steam tunnels. I'm pretty sure the first person that finds it get dibs, and that was found a while ago (by someone in my dorm actually). I might be wrong about this though, there may be more.

ps. they censor p1ssed on here... come on

Ew, would you actually live in Gooch/Dillard? On-grounds housing for upperclassmen is such a debacle (unless you're living on the lawn).

No, I wouldn't, she said if that happened then something will have gone wrong and they should be able to take care of it, but if all the rooms are full then i don't know. It does sound like crap if your not doing a res college.

There are about 14 unoccupied rooms in Brown right now, or were at the beginning of the year. If something happens, there will be a room for you to move into. Promise. Esp if Gassmann knows about your case. I'll remind him if your name isn't on the top of the list when I go to put it on the website. :)

Your acceptance to Brown can be deferred for the following year because you got in as a first-year. Remember, once you are accepted to Brown, you're always a member here - so you're always welcome to return to live here. Just make sure you talk to housing and explain your situation to make things clear for yourself.

Brown is a very interesting place.

I should have done crazier **** when I was there.

Not a big fan of some residents there tho.

Good looking out hazel :)

Interesting is definitely a good way to describe it. Quick question to CCers living in Brown (particularly the first years) do you guys plan on staying there next year? Did you like it?

I'm moving to an apartment next year, out in the Corner area. Brown just wasn't my cup of tea; it's complicated. To each, his own. I agree with Untitled.

i hated the fact i was isolated from the other first years.

i stayed because i was too lazy to seek out other options.

the first years here who i've talked to (i guess those would have to be the more involved ones then?) are all staying, which is exciting, since i thought a lot of them would be moving out.

i was wondering.....
i filled out the application for brown...and there was an answer that i didnt quite like so i wanted to change it.
turns out that the last question - the character sheet has changed to business card - any ideas on which application we shoudl submit?

You should submit the one with the business card.

I just got an email from Gassmann saying that housing was sort of confused and I wasn't really guaranteed a spot, so now I need to fill out an app and reapply before they start reading on sunday. Crap, now I am really worried, I know how competitive it is after first year and I haven't made any other plans...

They really need to get things straighten out. Housing was confused as a result of the committee's carelessness, like not having a back-up for the waiting list. They lost it and housing, which presumably accessed the waiting list via Brown's website, couldn't get to the list because the brown website got hacked. Things are very disorganized between housing and brown.

Haha, I've never heard of the myth of the "Brown secret code" before.
