Applying to Prep School!!!

does andover have this thing where they let you check if you got in, online??

just curious, how and what did everyone write their essays?

I want to apply to St Paul's next year, so I'd be attending there 11th and 12th grade, is it really hard to get accepted for the junior year? Also, I'm from Italy and I'm worried about my chances of admission as I'm an international student!! But the good point is that italian schools are known in the world for giving the best preparation, and for being among the hardest schools in the world. So I hope they will consider that.
I'm applying to R.L. Stevenson School as well, but I don't know how good is it. Has anyone ever heard about it?
I'm studying a lot to take the TOEFL, in addition to the SSAT, does anyone know if it's really that hard?
Sorry for my endless post!!! lol

I did the TOEFL and I'm a native english speaker (I have to do the toefl bc I'm an international applicant). It actually isn't that easy. I did the computer based test, and there is a part where they'll give you a 3- 4 minute non-stop lecture on something obscure like orbits. Then you click 'next' and answer about 15 questions on the lecture. I zoned out on the orbit lecture... killed that section. But I got a 272 / 300 i guess that's not too bad. Anything over 220 is good, apparently.

For my Exeter essays, I used essay topics 2 and 3. I live in the polluted Hong Kong, so writing about what I'd change was not hard. And for my jot-a-note essay, I wrote about a volunteer experience I had in Thailand this summer.

tara, your TOEFL score is pretty decent. I don't see why you had to take it, I mean, english is your native language...

Hmm. Im applying to Exter, Andover, and Groton...

I used the question on Exeter's motto, and the 'look out your window' essay. My essay on the window kicked some serious 4$$, but my one of goodness was kina so so. Good, but difficult to read, you know? Like Moby Dick. Heh.

For Andover I did the tell a story essay- that one kicked 4$$ too.

Groton had a huge number of essays; an essay about a person who inspired you, an essay about a book, an essay about why you want to atten Groton... and another one, but I cant remember. Hmm. Thats probably bad. They were pretty good essays.

Im not going to tell anything more about what I wrote, just in case some admit officer is patrolling this board and I say something like, "I wasnt particuarly impressed with __. I'll go there if I have to, but I'd be happier going to __."

Hey, on the Andover app, what did everybody write for the question, "What do you find challenging in your day to day life?"

Did anyone else's parents get a letter from prior Exeter parents encouraging them that Exeter has been great for their kids?

I'm wondering if it's a form letter or if it's a good sign.
