esa, I had something like that. That was my Exeter interview. But, I had to do a lot more speaking on my part, and I was seperated from my father.

It was Andover.

Is there any way to check archived posts to see what kind of SSAT scores people have made, and gotten in to these schools with?

As long as you have decent GPA, ECs, Rec letters, and specialties, anywhere between 80 - 99% would be ok. I have kept hearing that SSAT is not that important as one may think. It is an icing on the cake. Once you have quality elements, it would be nicer you score 90+. I saw a lot of cases where 80s in SSAT still made to Groton, St. Paul, etc. Hope this helps.

I can only speak for Groton. For a non athlete, legacy, etc., an 80 plus is the norm. An 80 is fine for a big donor and a 70 for a star athlete in a sport big at the school. Groton being so small wspecially treasures good athletes.

I can also tell you that my boyfriend's cousin, a not great athlete, not rich but not needing aid, a solid A student at a top private day with a 95 SSAT, got waitlisted last year at Choate, Deerfield and Andover and into SPS (not legacy but connected) Exeter and Loomis.

For last year's thread on this subject - look at the bottom of the page....you'll see archived - you can go see what every one got and where they got in.

Wow harsh!!!

Regis - do you have a link to last year's big prep school thread? I searched forever and I still couldn't find it...

Try http://www.collegeconfidential.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?99/92714
and then browse around. That thread was the biggest one. It's pretty cool.

What are you supposed to bring to prep school? What's the standard dress code?just wondering

I have another question,no offense, but why are you always claiming you have a life zafira? I have a life too, and im sure the rest of us do as well. personally, im on this website simply to find out information about prep schools, not simply to fill a void of friends.

I dont mean to be rude. I was just wondering.

Inside source from Andover says:

-Applications have increased significantly from last year (2100 apps)
-400 more interviews have been granted
-Particular increase in international students
-Admissions rate is expected to stay the same or even dip this year

Gosh, I feel sorry for us when we apply to college!!! Our kids (good luck!!!)? This competition for schools is crazy!!!

RaspberrySmoothie, when you mentioned that 400 more interviews have been granted this year, does that imply that not everyone who applies to these schools gets an interview? I read some past posts on the boarding school experience, and oh my gosh. I must say there're voices like ours dating back to 2003. It's amazing when you think about all the hopes and dreams that people write up on these boards, and then realize a greater perspective that there were other people in the same shoes as we are in right now. It feels so cool...

Jthe schools will usually have more interviews compared to applications. After the interview, some prospective students will change their minds about actually applying. So 400 more interviews, does not mean 400 more apps.

prepparent, it looks like you're trying to say, "People send in apps, then change their minds. Thus, they do not get an interview." Is this what you meant? Because I quite frankly do not understand how there'd be more interviews than applications.

Tara: You have a friend in Wentworth?

Jthecanadian: Yup, 8 canadians. 4 uppers and 4 seniors, so you could be in luck :P
edit: I think prepparent means that some people who apply withdraw their applications after an interview, because they decide that the school is not for them.

Oh and Jazz, I'd have to say that football and crew are bigger than hockey. Lacrosse is about even.

Good luck to all of you guys (and gals) by the way. I think you're stressing more over this than I am with my college apps. Maybe I'm just burnt out though ;)

jthe, prospective students will visit and interview before they apply. They may have intentions of applying, but then change hteir mind after the visit/interview.

I changed my mind at Deerfield- no offense but it was too remote for my personality. I did interview though...so there ya go...
