congratulations wannabe!
yes, you are just waiting for the letter. it can take a couple of weeks for the paper to arrive in your mailbox. don't worry.

edited to add:
do you think you want to change your name? wannabe somehow doesn't seem to fit!

haha yeah I guess I will- thanks!

wait-now I'm concerned- I just got the letter from USNA saying that I am scholastically qualified, yet it is not an LOA ( as it said on the DoDMERB website). If I have everything else ( physical and medical qualification) plus a principal nomination, am I guaranteed acceptance? Or am I now in some sort of pool of qualified applicants for admission?

by law the academy is required to admit all principal nominees who are triple q'd.

got my appointment for USNA Class of 2012

From Alabama

Hurrah scubaguy17! welcome aboard. :-)

My son received his nomination on Dec 29. Our Congressman called to congratulate him of Appointment on Jan 4. Offer of Appointment arrived in mail on Jan 12 and his birthday is tomorrow (Jan 18). I was really hoping it would all come together in time for his birthday. Needless to say, He will be having a happy birthday!

i got my loa the day before my 18th birthday (jan 19th) and my call about my appt a few days afterwards. Def. a good birthday present. :)

he got his saturday but my wide wanted to put it into a birthday present box but I couldnt wait til then and we gave it right to him then.

Finally got my nom from my MOC Don Young (Jan 16th) but my nom still hasn't shown up in CIS. Any idea how long that will take?

It took my son over 2 weeks.

I got a nom in November from my Congressman and another from my senator in January. My nom status did not show up in my computer, (CIS) page until today, nearly two months later. I think it has a lot to do with the amount of paper work and candidates the admissions department has to deal with at this time of year. No need to worry. It will show up.

it also has to do with when your congressman decides to send in the slate. they can choose who they have on there slate and send it in later (depending on how busy they might be).

Thats very true. Technically, the MOC are not required to have their nomination selections in to Admissions until January 31st.

Can anyone tell me when the plebe parents weekend is and what it entails? I've heard I need to get hotel reservations now for it. Thanks for any information you have.

Momtosix,
USNA seems to be in state of flux right now with lots of changes going on, so it might be best to wait until the Permit to Report packet comes. That will give you the best information. I-Day is a week later this year than in the past and traditionally PPW is seven weeks after I-Day. You might be able get the information from your BGO or by calling the Alumni Association, but I'm sure they even know what's going on yet.

Congratulations to your future Midshipman

Just checked CIS and my nom has shown up. I think that that means that the big envelope is on the way (unless they only send the packages out in bunches). I got an LOA in October I think and nom was the only contingent factor.

^^^

Congrats!

If someone is nominated by a Congressman or Senator, does their nominating source call them if/when the Academy decides to give the candidate an appointment? Or can an appointment merely show up at the doorstep of an unsuspecting candidate?
