@laxlawyer16 the writing score is not a part of your composite score. It’s completely separate from the average of the other four scores.
Man, I must say the English was fairly easy with a predicted score of 35-36. Math was easy, finished with 25 minutes left. Reading killed, I spent so much time on the first two that i had to skip the third passage cuz it was a double passage one so I only had like 7 minutes to do the hard passage so I got some wrong. Science was easy, finished with 8 minutes left.
Predicted Scores:
English: 35-36
Math: 36
Reading:31-34
Science:36
I just hope its a generous curve for reading. Man that reading killed me so bad.
I’ve taken the ACT once before and got a 29. Hoping for a 34 this time around. In my opinion the last 8 Math questions and the Reading passage on Astrophysics were the most difficult parts of this test. Probably missed a few on each and ended up with a score closer to 32. We’ll see… What do you guys think the curves will be like?
Thank you very informative article. And I did see that essay score does not affect overall composite score so that’s good.
Thank you!! We probably should have a practiced a few sample essay prompts . I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t even realize essay format had changed.
Math wil probs be one error and down to 35, english maybe one error is fine to get a 36 and reading i’m worried, i messed up on the third passage so i hope its generous but with my luck, its bound to be like 1 wrong 35, and science should be 1 wrong to 35. What do you think?
Would a bigger pool of testers make the curve harsher, or the contrary?
-10 wrong, still get a 36 for all sections
Thank u! I probably should have just looked online . Lol
Predicted Curve:
English:
1 wrong to 36
2 wrong down to 35
Math:
1 wrong down to 35
Reading(I hope its generous):
2 wrong down to 35
Science:
2 wrong down to 35
@BerrySmoothie17 I took it in February and scored a 30 (not bad). I honestly was so tired I just wrote random junk to fill the four pages. Did not do scratch work or developed any idea, I just went with the flow
This was my first time taking… Thought English and reading were easy, math was ok, and science was brutal.
I’m freaking out though because I didn’t finish my essay. I completely lost track of time. How screwed am I?
@Jeaid Yes that passage was killer and I spent so much time on it that I had to guess on 1/2 of them and couldn’t finish four of the third so had to guess on them
MODERATOR NOTE: Just a reminder that discussing specific questions or the form number of the test is not allowed.
Honestly thought english was normal (however no matter how easy or hard it is, I always score a 28 lol), math was pretty easy except for a few questions. Reading first two passages were fine but the end of the third passage and forth passage killed me… absolutely killed me. Anyone agree? Hope the curve is lenient. I had to literally guess on 4 of the last and three of the third. What would a -8 be? Science I thought wasn’t that bad except for the one with + and - and one or two questions of the different students opinion experiment
Today was my first time taking the ACT, but I have done 4 practice tests in the red book and all 5 for science. Overall, I thought English was average, math was slightly more challenging than average, reading was average, and science was far more difficult than most I’ve seen. Was hoping for a 34, but science could kill my chances.
First ACT ah (I’m a sophomore)
English was okay; it’s usually my best section. There were 2 iffy ones for me…I’ve scored 33-35 on practice tests.
Predicted: 33-34
Math: WHY WAS THIS SO HARD. I literally couldn’t solve 2 of them. I’ve scored 33-35 on practice tests, but the actual!! Not enough alg, too much geo for me.
Predicted: 31
Reading: It was okay, better than usual maybe? A couple iffy ones. I usually get 31-33 on practice tests.
Predicted: 32-33
Science: Some were easy, some were confusing. This is usually my most fluctuating; I score anything from 29-33. The curve always sucks on science…
Predicted: 32
Composite: 31-32
The most recent composites I’ve gotten were 33-34…but I doubt that will happen…I took the SAT II Math and thought 750…got a 680…have low confidence with these tests lol
Somehow I didn’t even study the practice PSAT that was given by the school and got a 1420 but studied for two months on the SAT II while taking Calc 2 and got a 680.
Writing? Ehhhhh I’ve never gotten one professionally scored, just took it to see what will happen. Only wrote 2.5 pages so probably like 25 I dunno
I’m actually feeling pretty confident on most of the test. My goal was a 30+. English was okay, Math good until like #50 and onward i guessed , reading I normally do good on but had to guess on a few for the 3rd passage, this time I feel pretty confident on the science section.
Can anyone make predictions? They are much needed
English: -4
Math: -13
Reading: -3
Science: -5
These are my predictions. I was hoping for a 30 or 31
English: 31/32
Math: 29/30
Reading: 33+
Science: No clue I did so badly
Was science especially brutal for anybody else? The last 2 practice tests I took out of the red book I got a 29 and a 32, so I thought I’d be set. When I got to the test…it was a completely different story. I thought reading was especially easy though
