April Angst 2017

I feel for you @BassTheatreMom! Less than one week and it will be decided.

@BassTheatreMom

^emoji. My computer is failing me!

LOL!

It’s been very stressful this week waiting to hear back from two top tier schools. The first top choice school offered some financial aid and no music merit scholarship at all. It was the only school to offer no merit award. We had many phone calls from the voice faculty at this school telling us how much they wanted her to attend their school and how impressed they were with her audition. Last week they told us that we needed to wait on the music merit award, and just today we got a email saying sorry they cannot offer any music merit award. This school is now out of reach for us.:frowning: The second top tier and choice school offered decent music merit but very very little financial aid. Fortunately we have another top tier school(undergrad only) that provided more, and gave us a nice merit award, but it still will be a chunk of money for us. And then there are two low tier schools with almost a full ride(public with grad students) but D not liking the schools as much, though the teachers she had lessons with were decent. Stressful! We found most of these schools-(mostly top tier schools), definately placed Masters students applicants ahead of Undergraduates, in both notifying them of awards, and in and offering more $ in both merit award and financial aid. The Undergraduate schools only offered the best packages and best value. Fortunately one of the best ones in the country did so for our daughter, though still a lot of money this package was the best for the tier of the school. Looks like daughter will most likely be going there now. Good luck to everyone!

Well, it’s official, my D is an Obie. Her heart and gut won us over. I’m very happy to see her so excited!

coloturadad-Congrats. My S is a freshman and loves it there.

@coloraturadad Congratulations! She will be great!

@coloraturadad, I am so excited that our girls will be studying voice together at Oberlin next year!!! Yay!

Congrats to @coloraturadad and D! I hope you all can relax and enjoy the weekend.

Do you have something to share with us yet, @BassTheatreMom ?!?!?!

Yes, we do.

Northwestern it is. We are all very excited!

Congratulations @BassTheatreMom . You all have the right to enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

Yes, congrats! It’s Indiana for my son. Best wishes to everyone!

IU Jacobs for mine as well. Congrats to everyone!

Congratulations, all!

Congrats @BassTheatreMom, @beaglemom and @Midwestmama17 - enjoy the rest of your weekend now that the decision is behind you!

Congrats to all! I wrote this a couple of years ago for fun. I don’t always edit what I write…so there are misspells and a generous use of exclamation points but…oh well…the point still comes across.

I thought of sending this as a small gift to @GoForth who has so generously shared his story. But he seems more like a “cool cucumber” so maybe others can relate too to my neurotic ups and downs. If it doesn’t attach correctly you can always search for it if interested.

It could be titled May Remorse and beyond.

And for those IU parents, get a hotel room NEXT week for move-in in Aug! Orientation weekends during the summer are not a problem. But there are never enough rooms in B-Town for big events like move-in. You need to be working months in advance on reservations or you could end up in Indy…or worse the “Qualty” Inn in B-town (shutter). Do not stay there!
