Are All Applicants invited to Wildcat Days (April 26-28?) with Transportation Covered

That's a lot of money for Northwestern to be spending especially in these economic times... wondering if everyone got the email?

My transportation isn’t covered…but I didn’t apply for FA so that might be why.

Mine’s covered. Definitely coming!!! So they’ll arrange for your flight if you fly over and pay for gas/hotel if you are driving there?

If you don’t mind, can you please post your email.

How did you find out if your transportation was covered?

I have not gotten an email covering mine. I think there are usually a lot of things considered concerning travel grants - whether you’ve visited before, financial need, ethnicity, regional diversity, etc.

Unfortunately no. Though that would be a terrific opportunity! Have fun!

Dear Dante09,

Congratulations and welcome to the Class of 2013!

As a student admitted to Northwestern, you now join a community of exceptional faculty and students who are leaders inside and outside the classroom. Choosing a home for the next four years is not an easy decision. Though we are confident you are an excellent fit for Northwestern, we would like to give you the opportunity to experience life as a Wildcat firsthand.

Please join us for a special Wildcat Days Program beginning Sunday, April 26 through Tuesday, April 28. Throughout your visit, you will meet current students, faculty, and staff, encounter some of the academic and extracurricular features of the University, and spend two nights on campus with a current student. It is an excellent opportunity to get a feel for life as a Northwestern student.

We will be happy to arrange and cover the costs of your air travel and ground transportation. This travel offer is valid for attendance for this Wildcat Days program date only. Should you choose to join us for an alternate Wildcat Days event on April 13 or April 20, please note that our office is unable to offer overnight hosting or assistance with your travel expenses for any dates other than April 26-28.

In order to secure your place at this Wildcat Days event with special Sunday programming, please take the following steps:

gah i’m jealous… i didn’t get anything like that (probably b/c i haven’t turned in IDOC thus am not being considered for FA right now)… but i would have loved a free trip to see NU! :frowning: they must really want you…

wait… i was invited to the mondays - april 13, 20, 27. what is this april 26-28 thing?

^^ i was invited to the mondays too

This came in an email for wildcat day or something. Are the mondays also wildcat days or just admit student visit days?

^ they’re called “wildcat days”

I got an email, but they didn’t offer to pay for me to visit. WashU, on the other hand, is flying me down to campus free of charge. Hmmmm. . . .

I got an email, too! I already called their travel agency and booked the flight. It was only $120. =]

QUESTION: I arrive on Sunday, where do I stay for Sunday night?

Edit… I just read the thing with “Sunday program.”

I got the email, but I have not turned in my IDOC (URM probably has something to do with it.)

I got two emails on monday. One general one about wildcat days and one about the paid travel expenses day.
Modulation: How does the flight ticket thing work? Do we just book a flight and Northwestern’ll send the ticket to us or do we book it ourselves and Northwestern’ll pay for our ticket price when we arrive?
And I read the itinerary and it’s only a two day event, but the email said from sunday to tuesday. So what do we do on tuesday or monday night? Cause the itinerary ends on the afternoon of day 2

^On the email, it says to call that travel company and to tell them you’re with Northwestern, etc. They book it for you (it takes like 5 min) and send you a confirmation email. But I didn’t even think about the tickets thing… I should call Northwestern and find out about the tickets…

Also, I think that itinerary isn’t updated. There’s the Monday-Tuesday event but I think the Sunday-Tuesday event is special. I’ll call NU tomorrow…

I just realized how late april 26-28 is. I have to list a NM first choice college by the 27th (I think) so even if I hate or love NU after the visit, it would be too late to change anything.

How many people go to Wildcat Days total (for all three dates)? Will I miss a lot if I don’t go since my schedule is really busy?
