Congratulations to everyone who was recently admitted.

This morning I received an email about Wildcat Days that said that NU would be "happy to arrange and cover the cost of your ground and air transportation."

Did everyone receive this email? Or is it based on academic or financial aid stats?

Not everyone gets it, it’s likely based on financial aid status.

I can’t find much about Wildcat Days on the Northwestern website…Can you share dates/times?

I got it too! Yeah, idk who gets this email and who doesn’t. I know I’m definitely applicable for fin aid, so maybe that’s why I got the offer to pay for travel and stay overnight on campus with a student? I’m URM too (Cuban) but the email didn’t say anything about URMs so I don’t think that’s it. Emory and Cornell offer students trips to their campuses explicitly because they’re minorities, so if NW wanted to recruit URMs I’m sure they wouldn’t be shy about it either.

So idk. It’s probably fin aid based.

To givings, I think that accepted students received an email with a link to an accepted students page. At least I did and the email said nothing about paying for my visit.

I believe all accepted students received an e-mail with a link that had information about Wildcat Days. Some received a second e-mail about the offer to cover the costs and I would imagine that all of those were ones that need financial aid.

It’s not for URM’s because I am not one. And I’m in an upper-middle class income bracket so I wonder how they determine this…

dabrain13, which state do you live?

I applied for aid and didn’t receive this message. My income bracket is middle-class and I’m not a URM.

I’m middle class, definitely qualify for aid, and live in New York, but I did not get an email like this. Maybe it’s a combination of being under a certain income and over a certain distance? Or maybe they offer it to certain “priority” applicants that they really want to make sure visit campus. Or any combination thereof.

dabrain13

on your MIT post u said income under 70,000 that isn’t uper middle class, and probably the reason you were offered the money to travle to visit???

sorry dabrain meant greater than 70,000

from what i was told this offer was made to those that applied for FA

I’m a white male from virginia, definitely qualified for financial aid (I’m in QuestBridge) and I got this offer. I’m definitely going to take them up on it, barring a better fit school (i’m still holding out on a couple dreams) admits me and their admitted student days conflict, but I’m pretty excited! Glad such a good school wants me!

I’m from NY, definitely applicable for some measure of aid, and received the second email.

I’m from PA and applied for aid and didn’t receive the email… Kinda disappointed too because my parents would’ve actually let me visit the school. Probably would help me choose between NU and CMU…

I’m from Georgia and applied for aid, but didn’t receive the email either… Would those of you who got the email consider yourselves to be “priority” students?

@harvard521 - I feel your pain. Fortunately I have already visited campus, but now that it’s likely I will choose NU, I’d like to go back one more time just to be sure. But there’s no way my parents are paying for me to fly out to Chicago.

Exactly, now I might have to make a blind decision between the two… Choosing between schools has to be the hardest decision of my life!

My son received the second e-mail but I wouldn’t consider him a “priority” student. He did apply originally through Questbridge but wasn’t chosen as a finalist so he had to apply through Common App as well. Perhaps those that did apply through Questbridge all received it?

Is Wildcat days for students only or can parents come along too? If parents can come, how common is it for parents to come?
