<p>Three of the girls with the highest GPA's have no friends other than the other two. They suck up on teachers, have inflated ego's, and stab people in the back for better grades. They will ask for help, and after receiving it, will refuse to help you on anything else.</p>
<p>I'm a junior, but I'm friends with several of the senior vals (yes, my school has like 4 vals each year).</p>
<p>i was #2 for a long, long time. Then I read the Prince by Machiavelli. Now I give out leadership positions in my to 3, 4, and 5 just to keep em happy. But also, they will look kinda like PoSes if they say Officer or Senior member of X club, so this may end up helping me. And i bake brownies and give them out for free - this redeems me, no?</p>
<p>we don't rank except if you ask. And everybody is uncomfortable around our val because she's so socially awkward adn does nothing but complain and whine about classes. </p>
<p>our school's not ultracompetitive though, nobody really compares grades except for one or two people.</p>

<p>The top 10 people (well, 8 of them) seem to have their own "elite" group and I don't fit in. Ironically enough, I am ranked 8. The val is not friendly either.</p>
<p>I'm rank one and I have to say, the others who are ranked #2-10 are complete idiots who suck up to teachers to get good grades and take a lot of AP's just to get in top 10. The only reason why I am rank 1 is because I took AP's earlier than anyone else, and because I also take college classes. I hate the other "smart" people in my grade, they just plain suck. I just want to pwn them sooooo badlyyy with my friends.</p>
<p>Our #1 is a bit eccentric, and very unsocial. However, once you start talking to him, he's pretty interesting (that is, if you enjoy math conversations)!</p>
<p>well, first i'd like to say that I would be the val if not for the fact that I am lazy as hell. My freshman and sophomore years I took virtually no honors classes, so even though I worked my butt off last year, I'm still only ranked 16.</p>
<p>As for the val, sal, and the others in the top 10, I'm good friends with all of them, and they're all on good terms with each other.</p>
<p>My school does not officially "rank" students except for the val and sal but the top ten or so of us know our standing within our class. For no other reason than other people slacking off freshman year, I may currently be number 1 in my class. I get along well with number two (a swimmer) and numbers three and four (my girlfriend, lol, and a band friend). However, one or two of the kids in the top 10 do not deserve their spots, being ranked so high for taking SATURDAY math classes that get AP weighting.</p>
<p>^ Me too. People who join AcDec gets AP credit in my school and I'm really frustrated. Even if they don't make the team, that is. The class is such a joke and I can't participate b/c I have not been in the school for a full school year.</p>
<p>Wow, I wish we got AP credit for Academic Decathlon...
Anyways, me and the val are pretty friendly towards one another, as well as 2 and 3, but I don't really hang with them that much. I think I'm 4, and I'm a close friend of 5. The problem with many of my friends is that they are extremely smart but are extremely lazy and take honors classes or don't do homework, which hurts their GPA and their class rank.</p>
<p>I'm not a senior, but I'm friendly with some of the people who may be val and not with others (the naturally competitive, grade-grubbing self-proclaimed future presidents). Most of my closest friends are bright but probably won't be number 1, but the whether I or another friend of mine is val probably won't change our friendship. It's mostly about weighted classes and putting your nose to the grindstone, anyway.</p>
<p>The current val is really sweet though, and the one last year, though slightly asocial, was not competitive at all.</p>

<p>I should be it but I don't really care. I slacked off 9th grade...plus there all no lives. I play 3 sports and do a thousands things. Im sure I'll be in better colleges than them.</p>

<p>Yup, he's in all the tech stuff with me, although we debate over who is actually smarter. haha. Yeah, we see each other often... friends kinda, but not really close in any way. Buddies, more like.</p>
<p>My school's rank is solely based on GPA, unweighted that is. All the people who are #1 are people who have a 4.0. The VAST majority have taken no-very little AP courses and some honor courses, along w/ very few extracurriculars. My school tends to promote getting good grades by taking very easy courses.</p>
<p>Because of that, I do not know like anyone who's ranked #1. All my friends and I have lower than a 4.0, but take 10+ AP/college courses.</p>
