Are you getting wasted?

<p>Let's see....</p>

<p>
Alright, first of all the health argument isn't really a good one because basically anything you can do nowadays can or will kill you at some point.
Wrong.</p>

<p>
Alcohol is no exception, but it certainly isn't alone.
</p>

<p>What's your point?</p>

<p>
Also, saying that people who drink are antisocial is pretty much the opposite of the truth. The few people I know who don't drink generally don't abstain because they are against it; they just aren't invited to hang out an partake in it and spend a lot of their time at home being anti-social. People who drink are more social than those who don't in college. There is no point arguing it. Just take a look around your residence hall on a Friday night and see who is stuck by themselves. Surprise, it will be the judgmental "holier-than-thou" non-drinkers.
</p>

<p>"Holier-than-thou" non-drinkers? Lawl, well in any case I knock on a dorm door on a Friday nights and it's a bunch of people cooped up in a tiny double pre-gaming as me and my "holier-than-thou" non-drinker friends are about to head out.</p>

<p>
Also, look at fraternities and sororities. There is a reason that employers and grad schools like seeing greek involvement in college; people in Greek organizations generally do other things like student government, intramural sports, etc. And, they pretty much all drink. Generally the people who aren't involved in anything are the ones who don't drink and think that they are better than the people that do;
</p>

<p>I don't know how else to say it but that this is, well, wrong. If anything, the majority of non-drinkers are actually just religious and do tons of community/missionary service... </p>

<p>
those people generally have very few friends in college.
</p>

<p>This is based off your own personal stereotypes, get over it.</p>

<p>
Of course there are people who burn out and become dregs to society. I'm just trying to show that in the majority of cases, people who drink in college end up running things when they graduate. It would be a mistake to write off someone just because he/she drinks, because eventually you are likely to end up working for this person.
</p>

<p>Actually, not likely at all.</p>

<p>
Wrong.
</p>

<p>How so? Too many cheeseburgers over time will kill you just like too many beers will. </p>

<p>
What's your point?
</p>

<p>I'm just saying that alcohol isn't good for you, but you have to balance living a completely sheltered life and having a little bit of fun. </p>

<p>Exactly. Pre-gaming. As in getting ready to go out later.</p>

</p>

<p>Nope, it is absolutely true. Greeks are involved in almost every aspect of college life at most universities. Almost all of the philanthropic events, intramural sporting events, 5K runs/races, benefit concerts, etc. at my school are either put on by Greek organizations or are heavily supported by them. You will find this true at most major universities throughout the nation. While some non-drinkers do participate in these events, others remain cooped up in their dorm rooms never fully getting the whole college experience. </p>

<p>Not stereotypes, just observations. I'm not saying that people who don't drink won't have fun, I'm saying that those who don't drink and think that they are better than those that do generally don't fit in at a lot of colleges. </p>

<p>
Actually, not likely at all.
</p>

<p>Lets see...a good majority of people in college drink. A good majority of those that do drink end up becoming very successful after they graduate. So, it is pretty likely.</p>

<p>Yes, to parties. In other dorms. Not even remotely off-campus. Konnst du lesen?</p>

<p>Nowhere. Do you eat cheeseburgers though? They are at least as bad for you as a beer would be, if not more so. </p>

<p>Do you go to an ivy? I was really about to put an <em>except the ivy league schools</em> disclaimer in my post. Greeks play a huge role on campus for probably about 85 of the top 100 USNWR schools though, so I'm talking about college in general and not just the ivy league schools. </p>

</p>

<p>Well congratulations, but I guess you're an exception to the rule. Nowhere did I say it would apply in all cases, but likely in most of them.</p>

<p>
i don't care whether people drink, i don't judge them by the fact that they drink. i only have a problem when drinkers think that they are better than other people. for some reason you don't understand that correlation does not imply causation. like i said earlier, the only reason those people who drink become successful after they graduate is because of sheer numbers. someone has to be successful, if the majority of people drink, a good number of them will be successful. just because they drink doesn't mean they're going to be successful.
</p>

<p>I agree with you; I'm just trying to show that the vast majority of people who do drink in college end up being successful so there is no reason to judge them. I don't have a problem with people who choose not to drink, only with the ones who choose not to and then think that they are better than me because of it.</p>

<p>

<p>You should be telling that to the opposite side. I'm always on the defensive.</p>

<p>You misunderstand. I said people can think anything they want, provided they don't show it in their behavior.</p>

<p>Will this thread EVER end? The foolishness is getting a LITTLE out of hand, now. Get back on the main topic, please. <_<</p>

<p>also stop including comments in german; it's really pretentious..</p>

<p>Haha alright well I'm done here. Have a fun new years everyone, and Shalashaska I'll be sure to down some shots for you on New Year's Eve.</p>

<p>No i'm not getting wasted.</p>

<p>I'm okay with people over 21 drinking, but what about the people under 21? It's illegal and you know it. Whether you agree with the law or not is irrelevant. If you're under 21 you're breaking the rules. Respect the rules.</p>

<p>And my problem is with the way people act when they drink. It's obnoxious and annoying.</p>

<p>you're obnoxious and annoying.</p>
