I, for one, am stoked. They honored me and my buddies request and I am on the 2nd floor which seems perfect. I CAN take the stairs if I want to, but hell, if I'm feeling lazy, I'm taking the elevator.

One downside is it is the farthest dormroom from any/all classes really on campus and it's about 4 min from the dining hall, but I'll live.

Just trying to get a feel for how well the university's do on the assignments. Obviously nobody can know for sure right now, but I have already read some people's displeasure with their assignment on here.

I got my 4th choice dorm... and it's all girls, not coed... but my roommate and I get along wonderfully, we have extremely similar personalities and lifestyles. We chat via facebook messages and occasionally through AIM. My room is the third floor (with no elevators) but it's close to the theatre (I'm a theatre major), the dining hall, and the chapel, and we have a sink in our room. Only 2/9 dorms have those. YAY! Perks definitely outweigh the negatives here.

I got 4th floor in my dorm--could be worse (there are 8 floors in my building). It's quite a walk from all of my classes, but I guess it'll be good exercise. Haven't talked to my roommate (I only found out like an hour ago, and he's not on facebook), but I'm sure we'll get along.

I'm on the first floor in a dorm PERFECTLY located.

I won't be able to have contact with my roommate until around the 21st (she's on a mission out of country, and I'm going to Dallas on the weekend she gets back), but I'm 99% sure we won't have any problems.

So, yes, I'm happy with my dorm situation thus far.

Mine's okay.. third floor with no elevator. Guess I won't be so happy when I'm tired or lazy lol. But my roomie's friendly, and I'm in a ten person suite, so that's nice.

I'm in the only building on campus I absolutely did not want to be in (has a reputation for being really loud), and my roommate doesn't have similar habits at all. I'm trying not to be too negative before I even get there, but I'm kind of apprehensive.

I am somewhat happy...I mean I got into the dorm I wanted, but I heard the house where I'll be living is located on a hill and is somewhat far from the main road. Oh well, it'll just be more exercise for me.

Im happy with my room. Maybe me and my roommate will get along but who knows? Im just happy that my room is like 1 minute from the gym, and right next door to another dorm which im taking a class in.

I got the dorm I chose, the party one that is located right in the middle of campus, rigt by all the buildings where my class is located. Except it's a walk to Greek Row and to the Gym, but oh well, it's not a huge campus. I'm on the 2nd floor with no elevator (actually the halls are outdoors) and I'm right next to my RA, but we have a corner room which is a little bit bigger. But I'm not sure how I will get along with my roommate, she doesn't like to party, she's kind of quite, and really really sporty. I'm atheletic, too, but it doesn't run my life quite the same way it does her's. So we will see about that.

Testudo, I have a son who lived in one of the U of Maryland high rises last year. I can tell you that there is extreme social pressure on second floor residents to not use the elevators. If you have ever wanted to have a dozen intoxicated people crammed into a small space all look at you with murder in their eyes, go into a UMCP high-rise elevator and press the 2 button.

This would make a great topic for a sociology paper. Or maybe criminal justice. ;)
