Are you happy with your Room Assignment?

dang a hoteL? where do u go?

SUNY at Buffalo. According to the Housing Dept., the Office of Admissions accepted an abnormal amount of applicants. Therefore, a lot of people wanted housing. Since I paid towards the May 1st deadline, I am one of the last people to get housing.

Exactly what I wanted...East Campus, Ground level, Quad with other out of state kids

I'm happy because I got a split-double. It's a double but with a huge wall and a hallway seperating our spaces so it's like two singles attatched. So I get to have a roommate and my privacy!

sorry ernestine..i hope it doesnt end up that bad hey does that mean u get ur own bathroom? like u dont have to share it w/ a bunch of people only one other person?

Yea, I got my first choice. My roommate is gay, so that will be a new experience. I didn't know many gay people back home.

im on the 10th floor and my roommate is from kuwait. oh well.

I'm pretty pleased--I'm staying in one of the best (looks the best on the outside, renovated 5 years ago) dorms on campus.

Testudo, I have a son who lived in one of the U of Maryland high rises last year. I can tell you that there is extreme social pressure on second floor residents to not use the elevators. If you have ever wanted to have a dozen intoxicated people crammed into a small space all look at you with murder in their eyes, go into a UMCP high-rise elevator and press the 2 button.

This would make a great topic for a sociology paper. Or maybe criminal justice.

Hahahaha. That's great--and completely understandable.

Mine sucks. They messed up my social, didn't put me and my friend together, stuck her in the worst possible dorm, put me in one of our preferences with a girl I have little in common with, and we may not be able to change, because my friend's a freshman.

Yup, I requested a single this year. I'm on the 5th floor, but that's better than being on the 11th. No roomate this year, even though all was good with the one from last year.

I'm happy, first choice dorm, laundry is down stairs and dining hall is in the residence hall next door, but they are connected to each other, I have a double and my rommate seems nice, I'm on the fourth floor so nobody is above me, basically its fabulous!

Yeah, they are basically going to turn hotels into dorm like atmosphere including RA's and professiona staff. Thinking about the situation, it may be better than living in the dorms.I'll have to wait and see.

I'm a little upset because they asked me how many roommates I wanted...I said 1 or 2. I got 3. They also put me in the building that I said I didn't want. It's almost like they didn't read my questionnaire. I talked to one of the girls who seems really nice, but I'm not sure about the others yet.

They respected everything me and my future roommate asked for (I mean i asked for it AFTER i sent the room requests and stuff... in an email!) and I got everything i wanted... just one thing that sucks is that they won't tell us what room we'll be in until we get there... it's retarded. I originally asked for the party dorm but my roommie wanted not as party dorm so hopefully i'll be happy with it.

Ernestine- My school started doing that awhile back (using hotels into dorms) and although it lacks in some aspects (socially and distance) i heard most people were happy in it... good luck

Nessah - did you send in your questionaire early? some kids may have sent it in earlier than you did and got priority.

I am content with my living situation. I got into the popular apartment complex that so popular than those who did not get are bitter enough to make a facebook group about it.

I'm pretty happy. I'm on the 5th floor of the dorm I wanted, so it's not too bad. I haven't really talked to my roommate, but I'm sure we'll get along.

Actually, you can't be sure you'll get along. Hopefully you will, but you never know what this person could be like.

So far, my dorm assignment seems really good. I've emailed my roommate and she seems really nice, and isn't into drugs/drinking/smoking etc. We're on the 4th floor of a 7 floor building, with elevators. It's an all-female dorm with excercise equipment, laundry, a dance studio, and a couple practice rooms in the basement, and a lobby on each floor. And each double room is mostly divided for it's residents with a window on either side of the divider. The only negatives are that my roommate and I have to share the bathroom with the triple next door, and the individual room areas are a little on the small side.
