I have applied to both Cal State Dominguez and Humboldt University. I am completing all my required classes this semester at a community college for my AS-T in geography. I have a gpa of 2.2. For the first half of my college career, i did not take it seriously and received low grades but have gotten a 4.0 the past 2 semesters (full time). My question is, do I have a chance of being admitted to these schools with my gpa situation?

Neither CSUDH nor HSU is campus impacted for upper division transfers, and the only majors impacted at these campuses are the biology and environmental science majors at HSU. Completion of the prerequisites for your major as listed on http://www.assist.org with a college GPA of 2.0 should be sufficient to gain admission to non-impacted majors at non-impacted CSUs (however, F grades mean that the course does not count as being completed, and it is possible that your major may require C or higher grades in courses for the major).

I have gotten 2 F’s before but have retaken the classes. That would count as completed correct?

Assuming that you got passing grades on the retakes, yes.

I doesn’t guarantee admission to a specific campus, so you could get sent to CSUN for all anyone knows, even if you didn’t apply there.

But even with a 2.2 you have a guaranteed admission somewhere, at one of the CSU’s

@Matt4200 , can you possible explain how that works? So I applied to the two schools but they have the option to send me elsewhere?

Yes they can send you wherever they want, and I’m guessing with your GPA they will do just that.

“We encourage students to apply to more than one CSU campus offering their major. However, if a student is not admitted to the CSU of their choice, their application may be redirected to one or more alternative CSU campuses that offer the similar program and have admission capacity. It will be up to the student to evaluate each admission opportunity to determine which option is best for them.”

So even if you didn’t apply to a lower CSU your application will be directed there if the ones you applied to don’t want to accept you, because you are guaranteed admission somewhere.

@Mat4200 may I ask where you got the quote from?
