i guess i’ll find out when i get there but i just want more opinions:

what are main differences btwn the asian sororities theta kappa phi and chi alpha delta?

GENERALLY, what kinds of asians (personality, ec interests, academic interests…) go greek?

if i’m gonna join just for the parties, rushing won’t be worth it? if i don’t join, how likely is it that i’ll have a greek friend who could put me on party guest lists?

see for yourself.

website advertises itself as all kinds. ultimately, check it out yourself?

up to you. see for yourself. it's not just about "joining" either... there's a reason they put you through a pledging process

how likely...? 0% at this rate.

as for # of Asians - look through the photo galleries. look @ the list of names. you might get an idea.

wait, aren't you Asian? Why would this matter?!?!?!?!?!

Be your own person! Do it for yourself. No more parents, all FREEDOM. This is what you've been waiting for yeah? Just explore. Jump, frolick, laugh, and most importantly, LIVE.

( for panhellenic greek, it's been my experience that if you're a girl, there's basically no challenge getting into frat parties. just don't show up too late. )

just throwing that out there. asian, i dont know.

how many asians are in non-asian sororities? not that many. maybe a couple in the "top five". a little more in the "bottom five". supposedly kappa delta has more asian girls than any other pan hellenic sorority, but that's just what everyone says. whether it's true, i don't know. generally there aren't many asians in pan hellenic sororities.

are those asians awkward not being in the asian sorority?

you'd really have to ask them, but i don't think they're awkward at all for not being in the asian sorority. my roommate is asian and she's in a non asian sorority and does not prefer the asian sorority at all. she said once to me that she never would have considered it. so in fact i think she's pretty happy where she is.

yup that's def a positive. i've also looked at their facebook groups and it seems that i'll fit in. so far.

this is another question. might be dumb (i might be the first generation in my family to go greek. also i am the first child so idk ANYTHING):
how does one move again if one decides to go greek? it'll be in a greek house, right? then your address has to change and your belongings have to be towed? i'm really confused. my suite was expensive too so if i go greek, would that money go down the drain?

Phi Rho are Panhellenic wannabes that believe themselves superior. When asked about stereotypes, their rep to multi-interest greek council said "Well ours is that we are smart". That is total BS. I personally know one of the sisters who failed math 31B THREE TIMES. You will see several of them hanging around Triangle; I've met quite a few of them this summer, since I've been hanging out with one of the boarders there quite often. Generally speaking, drunk slutty wannabes. This is not to say that they are all horrible people; one of my closest and dearest friends is a sister of Phi Rho. Their rush is during first week. You'll find that they may depledge you for not caring enough about the sorority.

As an Asian rushing for Panhellenic, you will have to try harder. Being Asian counts against you, but not as much as being black will.

If you decide to move into the house, it will be next year. Spaces are assigned according to HOW MUCH TIME AND DEDICATION YOU HAVE PUT INTO THE HOUSE.

i <3 kappas. But only because.. I haven't met much else in terms.. of things. I know.. a DG at UCSD.. and.. a theta. They're awesome people, just meet them. If you think you can hang then hang, if not - do your own thing.

"If you think you can hang then hang, if not - do your own thing."

u mean stay with the sorority and do your own thing? isn't a sorority about doing group activities? or else they'll kick you out for being selfish?

All I've heard thus far on this board is that all the sorority girls are slutty, dumb wannabes. haha

Are there any respectable sororities at UCLA? I was going to apply as a transfer and do the apartment living but if sororities are cheaper, I might as well go for a living arraignment that allows me to save money for grad and medical school. I thought UCLA was a school for smart people NOT dumbass, carbon copy, fake blond/tits bimbos.

so the panhellenic non-refundable, I REPEAT NON-REFUNDABLE, is due tmro. otherwise i hafta pay $10 more for rushing later... idk what to do? fill it out? aahh!

hmm..phi sigma rho...

for that sorority, how effective is the academic help there? perhaps covel and PAN are better and/or more interactive?

i'm thinking about the pros and cons of phi sigma rho. trying to do that quickly by tmro. i mean today! it's 12.01 am PT. argh
