Ask a UCLA Psych Major (Transfer) anything!

@emilsinclair9 - is she really in??!?? FOSHO, cuz i have a 3.9 haha.

@butterflyaway - are you going to mtsac? mtsac’s AGS? lol

bahhh dainese you’re my competition lol
uhm no im at pierce.
funny thing, my orig. plan was to be a linguistics and psychology major cuz its “easier” to get in with, but now im declaring psychology and using linguistics and psychology as my alternate major if i get rejected for psych.

@ Dainese: yeah, I would say she is. I mean TAP is practically gold, and with a 3.8, she’ll be fine.

I sure wish my school had TAP…(stares up wishfully at the clouds). :)

@butterflyaway - dont worry haha, im going to USC. but if they reject me then UCLA here i come!
but in no way does that mean UCLA is a 2nd choice school or vice verse.

And if i do apply to UCLA, ill be doing the same as you with having linguistics/psych as my 2nd choice. :D

good luck to you  i hope you get in! *fingers crossed

no offense to the UCLA peeps. I love both schools equally. I respect both trojans and bruins. The whole school rivalry is all in good fun, but some people take it too far.
why not rep for socal haha. 2 of the best schools are in the same city!

As a Psych major possibly attending UCLA this thread was really helpful!

first of all, thanks for the help. my question: is there really no way around double majoring in two different colleges?

If I get a D this semester will the credits still go towards my 60 UC-transferable units??

Yes, if it is a UC-transferable course. There’s a big chance you will get rescinded as well.

go psych! go psych!

yay for psych majors! anyone taking psych100a during the summer?

What does a typical junior year psych courseload look like (fall, winter and spring quarter). Have you tried applying for the honors program, and if so, how competitive is it?

In addition, I’m still trying to figure out what I want my focus to be - more counseling focus, or do I want a more science-y focus (Science/math classes aren’t my best subjects, but Neuropsych is SO INTERESTING). Do they have good counseling/advising programs to help you figure that out?

bump 10chars

Simon, if i already took Psych Stats and Research Methods at my current UC, would i have to take them again at UCLA? i was accepted there for the class of 2012

Chance me!

Essays: Doing them right now, will state the above ec’s and how it changed my life, how it relates to the major that I am studying for.

When you wrote your personal statement, what work experience did you have in the field? I’ve had a tutoring job while working at A&F, but I don’t see how that relates to a personal statement on my psychology major… My cc also does not have a psych club, so I don’t know what I could do
