Aspirations of transferring to NYU, just like everyone else in the world

Hey guys,

Im currently a freshman at Boston University.

When I applied to NYU my senior year in High School, I was accepted into the GSP program.
Unfortunately, BU gave me a full ride as opposed to a lot of debt at NYU.

I had a weighted average of 98.6 in High School with 7 AP's and a 29 Composite on the ACT.

I am from Long Island, so I want to be closer to home.

My first semester, I got a GPA of 3.53 at BU.
This I hope is viewed in a more positive light, since BU has the reputation of deflating grades unfortunately.

Honors and Activities At BU.
-Deans List
-First Baritone Sax Concert Band
-Honors Combo. Lead Alto Sax
-BU Big Band- Alto Sax
-Presidents Host
-Stage Troupe Theatre Group

My question is, should I apply for a fall transfer?
And if so, what do you think my chances of acceptance are?

Secondly, would it be beneficial to finish this semester and apply for a Spring '09 transfer?
This could save money and possibly be easier to get into CAS?
Also, since I'd have more than 30 credits would I have to send my ACT scores?

Thanks So Much guys, and I would really appreciate your input.

you should have a decent shot, but i doubt nyu will look into the purported grade deflation at bu...financial aid for xfers will likely be frighteningly thin

finishing 2 yrs at BU and then transferring to NYU for your junior/senior year would be the most financially responsible way of doing things, but you may encounter more difficulties in getting credits, classes, finishing major on time, etc.
