are they close to classes and places like supermarkets or shopping plazas where it would be easy to get a part time job or buy food ?

is anyone familiar with the mcclintock dorm? i know that there are two floorplans, one really small one and one with a double room layout. i was placed in a room on the third floor, room# is 300 something. i think i was told at one point if you get a room# above 100, then you have the double room. but now i can't remember if it was the other way around. does anyone know specifically, so i can plan on how much space i have?

earmbruster
do you know if you're in the a wing or the b wing? if you know, you can go here and check:
Arizona State University - Residential Life
by the way, i'm also assigned to the mcclintock 3rd floor.

I've been in a mcclintock dorm. I saw the double. It's an interesting layout. If you live in the inside room, you have to walk through the outside one to get to it. I thought that seemed strange, but they're big. There's also a volleyball court and a huge courtyard. It's beautiful at night. It's like a huge square, stacked, all the rooms facing towards the courtyard.

chipolta, i'm in the b wing. which should mean i've got the double room then! thanks a lot for the help. maybe i'll see you around then if we're both on the same floor!

mike1215nj they are really close to campus it would be a very short walk or bike ride to get to campus.

alright sounds good thanks a lot miles

Since I should be finding out any day now if I got accepted to ASU, I'm starting to consider what dorm I may want to stay at. I'll be a freshman majoring in management or business communications at WP Carey. I'm looking for a dorm that'll be close to my classes, food, parties and other entertainment. Though I do like to party a lot, I'm hoping to receive the Sun Devil Scholarship and would need to maintain a 3.25 GPA if I receive it. Another thing to keep in mind, I'm hoping to be working with the equipment for the football team and would need a dorm that would only be a short walk to work. My friend is currently doing this and he's staying at PV. So what dorms would be good for me?

I notice that nobody has said anything about Ocotillo, and for good reason! I am a junior at ASU (transfer student) and for some foolish reason, they put my roommate and I at Ocotillo (which is a Freshman dorm). Anyway, I have been told that this may be the oldest dorm on campus...which shows with the random holes in the wall under the sink and the ROACHES which crawl up the drains. Seriously, while taking a shower one morning, I found a roach crawling up my knee. This place is HORRIBLE and to make matters worse, ASU Residential Life does nothing about it. I have found 8 live roaches in my room and have contacted ASU each time to have them come and spray. They have made NO attempt to reply back to me.

Also, we just found out the heat for the building doesn't work. I know we're in the hot desert, but it does get to 40 degrees at night and trust me, its chilly!

I have been trying to transfer to Cholla or some other upper classman dorms, but they are, yet again, ignoring me.

Honestly, this has been a horrible experience for me. ASU has not shown any sort of initiative to care about their residents. I talked to one man who is in charge at Hassayampa, and works with other dorms here on the south part of campus. I told him about the roach issue and he literally laughed and said, "ya, each dorm has its quirks." Gee, thanks for the concern.

My roommate talked to the front desk at Ocotillo about the heating issue and they, yet again, laughed and said "bundle up."

I'm still currently trying to switch dorms, as I know my ex-suitemate has moved a couple different times now (due to conflicts with other residents). It really disapoints me that since I don't have my mommy and daddy call the school like she did, they don't listen to anything I have to say.

I really hope you all don't have these types of experiences. It's an absolute mess.

Whoa, serious? And I thought Manzy's supposed to be the worst

Which dorm would you recommend for incoming Freshman, Fall'09, will be in Tempe, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Social but not party all night. Prefer Coed, close to school and stadium

I think the only dorm for freshman in the college of lib arts is hassayampa, one of the most expensive... correct me if i'm wrong

Freshmen can participate in the FYRE (freshman year residential experience) dorms, which include Palo Verde, and likely Center Complex next year (Hayden, Best and Irish). Certain colleges have designated residential communities, like the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Hassayampa. I would recommend that all honors students make an effort to live in the honors college next year, and other freshman attempt to live in the residential community associated with their college (Hassayampa is a very new, albeit more expensive dorm).

All freshman dorms, besides the honors dorms, are party dorms to some extent, so I'd pick for location and the quality of the rooms.

My daughter has been accepted in the College of Arts and Sciences and assigned to the FYRE residential community. Would you recommend the Hassayampa dorms? Any information would be appreciated! thanks!

I have also been assigned to the FYRE residential community. What does this mean? I'll be majoring in management and I heard Hassyamapa is the dorm for business students.

Does anyone know if freshman can live in Vista del Sol??

^^^upperclassmen only

Some overflow ended up in vista this year, though. So it is possible.

what dorm or apartment has the pool with that little rock?

i love to party and meet people, which dorm is best for me?
