Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Yes, that one was for OOS.

Oh ok. Original poster made comment about “particularly in state” (which we are) so I was focused on that.

Here are Auburn’s EA results, where they did receive over 40,000 apps as mentioned above.

Other snippets:

-The acceptance rate for Auburn’s first two early action periods was 24% for a total of 9,600 acceptances. (24%!!) I don’t know what last year’s EA acceptance rate was, but the overall acceptance rate for class of 2025 was 71%.

-Those students had an average ACT score of 28.6 and an average GPA of 4.21, with less than 7% admitted under the university’s test-optional pathway.

I had a couple questions I was hoping someone would be willing to answer (although slightly off topic for this thread)…
I’ve seen several comments about an applying student being a “legacy” at a school, and I was wondering how much weight (if any) that has on admission to Auburn. Do the parents have to be active/contributing members of the alumni group, or is the fact that they attended enough? And does the application ask if you had a parent/grandparent attend Auburn?

Thanks!!

You can locate this information for any school by looking at their “common data set” which is usually posted publicly on their website.

Here is what Auburn reports is the degree of importance they use when considering applicants for admission:

Thank you! I had no idea there was a chart like that. Very helpful…thanks again.

I never believe these charts. It also states that Auburn looks at the application essay. I was told this year from admissions counselor that they do not look at essays. They stritctly looked at scores and GPA, nothing else.

Yeah, I definitely get the impression the rules changed this year. It’s hard to know what’s accurate and what’s not.

I believe for the first round of acceptances, they strictly looked at numbers. It’s my understanding that by deferring most students until the March decision, it gives them more time to now go through their essays, recommendations, extracurriculars, etc.

This chart was for 2021 and the counselors mentioned that once they got double the applications this year that they had to modify their normal plans and start just looking at grades and test scores since they had to work faster to get through all of the apps. Those things ARE in their Very Important column. I think they are probably doing the best they can to look at each applicant carefully, but just have to do so a lot faster.

For those that were deferred - is Auburn one of those places that wants a letter of continued interest?

And as for updating the application a) do we do that through the common app and resubmit? B) updating grades with first semester - is that just sending the updated transcript?

Some honors college decisions went out today, so make sure your DD/DS checks if they applied.

I know it’s early, but are there any recent statistics on honors college admissions? I know the minimum is a 29 ACT/3.85 GPA for an invitation to apply, but does anyone know about what % are actually accepted and what their stats are?
Thanks!

No idea, but my son was deferred and his only plan is to have his counselor send in end of semester transcript. Good question and would be curious to hear from others.

Yep, right now we’re just planning to send end of semester transcript. No other email/letter. I was just curious because Auburn says Demonstrated Interest is “important” according to the Common Data Set.

It looks like there is a place in the Auburn Portal to submit documents, like the semester grades if you were deferred. Here is a screenshot. I would submit them here, and not on Common App, but you can always double check with your Auburn admissions advisor to be sure.

My DD just received an letter saying she was selected as a “Very Impressive Tiger”. It appears to be a private tour of campus. Has anyone done this before? What does it involve?

Congrats…very exciting! Would you mind sharing her stats? This is the first time i’ve heard about a “Very Impressive Tiger” letter, so I’m curious who qualifies.

The only similar thing I have heard of is an invitation to War Eagle Days, which are invite-only campus visitation days for “outstanding prospective Auburn students”.

If your daughter hasn’t toured yet, I highly recommend it! It’s a great chance to see and hear about everything Auburn has to offer :slightly_smiling_face:

Sure! She has a 4.24, is OOS and a 1460 SAT. Lots of EC’s. She had a tour last February but it was during COVID so the campus was empty.
