Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

We have the email and an 11/15 time slot. Applied 8/14 and in the 10/13 admission group.

How was WED? Do you have any tips for attending? We are going this week Also, has your child received a timeslot for housing yet?

S24 applied 8/17, accepted 10/13 and got 11/16 at noon :sob:

For those that attended War Eagle Day, did they mention when the Presidential Awards would be sent out?

D24 applied 8/23, admitted on 10/13 and is in the 11/9 housing group at noon CT.

All merit scholarships for those accepted EA1 should come out mid Nov.

Son applied in mid October, when should we expect to hear a decision?

If he applied by 10/15 he should hear by mid November

Do you recall where you read this? There are a couple of parents in the Auburn University Parents FB group who say that EA1, EA2, EA3…doesn’t matter in the least when the room selection dates are given - it’s a lottery and when you were accepted/paid your deposit has no bearing on what day you’re assigned… Granted, this is past years and could have changed, but it leaves me with concerns.

Nevermind - I found it. For anyone curious, it’s here - Fall Application – New Applicants – University Housing

Under the “Apply Now” Step 3 tab.

We just did War Eagle Day and a housing tour and they did say that the initial housing application date is a lottery. But EA1 will go first based on their acceptance date, then EA2 etc. The date that you fill out the housing applications and pay your housing deposit does determine the date you will pick your room in the spring.

hmm… still kind of confusing. So the initial date we have is a lottery, but is our date in the spring determined by how early we apply now and pay deposit?

For those in this next round two of EA, I see you! Are we thinking maybe next weekend? I’m so curious to see if any test optional kids get in this round. (Maybe I missed
It but I saw not one in the first round?)

We now know chances are slim but I’m so curious to see the stats, and I look forward to celebrating with the rest of you when you hopefully get in and we get deferred

Not being snarky at all, btw. If we had done our homework like the rest of you we would have known.

Yes, that’s what I was told by housing and by our state advisor. The November 8th date for EA1 was a lottery. We applied right away but got 11/16. On that date when she fills out the housing app and and pays her deposit it is time stamped for the spring date to actually select a room. I’m not sure how it works for EA2 and beyond. Several people commented that housing should be fine for EA1 kids. Maybe not your first choice necessarily but should have a spot on campus. Several who will pay the deposit will drop auburn and attend elsewhere. I know we’ve paid housing deposits at multiple schools before AU acceptance but she 100% plans on attending auburn.

ok thanks. This is helpful! We’ll definitely be paying the housing deposit. My son wants to wait and see where he is accepted and what merit comes in, etc before making a decision. But Auburn is high on the list so we will pay the deposit!

I have a question about housing that I have not seen the answer to. You know how they say that if someone has a date that is sooner than yours well what about the fact that those people can pull their roommate or even three other roommates up with them if that is what they put down. So, it seems that no matter where your kid is all of the kids that are listed as roommates can just bump all of the other kids, right? Also, do all of those roommates have to have the deposit paid already or do they get to skip regardless? I think this is the worst thing after the fact that there is not enough housing for all freshmen or any year student really. I have never liked when I have been waiting in line and then suddenly the person in front of me was holding a place for all of their friends and then they all take turns checking out. That is the equivalent of what this whole skipping kids that paid and were in line next is and it is not right.

No TO acceptances yet. Just deferrals.

Yes, they said you can pull your roommates in. Everyone has to pay the deposit and then link each other with your Auburn ID number that you are given. The roommate with the earlier time can choose for everyone.

Not 100% sure about Auburn but yes, this is the way it works at most other schools. Yes all kids will have had to pay their deposits but if they know their group/roommate - it comes to the person that has the earliest time slot and can make selection for them. This situation is much more likely with upper classmen though since they will have made friends and decided they want to room together.
