I’m in a particularly unique situation. I’m an enlisted veteran of four years (Navy) and currently trying to transfer from the United States Naval Academy. I wrote my essay about my leadership experience and phenomenal standings in Nursing Assistance (Hospital Corpsman), Surgical Technology, and Combat Medical courses in the Navy. I also included my standings at Navy’s prep school and a 3.12 after my first semester here. I am an independent student, 640E, 610M, 540W SAT scores, and participated in varsity athletics at the Academy. Will they take my Military experience, the Naval Academy name, etc… into consideration? I had poor performance in high school and hope that I have displayed a proper turn around, but would hope to know what I should expect. I can provide my personal statement and petition for early decision if anyone needs that.
Also, when I submitted the online app, it never asked me to submit the worksheets, but the PDF of the app has them blank. Do I need to fill these out? I am applying for the Computer Science major, but noted that I intend to enter as a Mathematics major and transfer into the major at a later time.
I think you have a really, really good chance of getting in. One thing to remember is that sometimes both the UW and the major have to admit you. I don’t know if mathematics if a competitive major, and even if it is I don’t except you to not get admitted in there.
They will take everything you write on your personal statement into consideration.
Another question that I thought I should ask: Because I have an address in Washington and have established in-state residency, but am coming from and OOS school, will I still be counted as an OOS transfer with in-state tuition? How do you think this could change the outcome of my admission?
I sent online application ( transfer application) 1 month ago. Couple days ago, I visited myuw site to check my application status and I got this one mgs:
After giving your application to the UW Tacoma an initial review, we have determined that one or more documents, supporting materials, or additional information are required before further reviewing your application. All required materials must be postmarked by the application closing date for autumn quarter 2015.
