Did any of you other band geeks here get back from band camp? How was yours?

Mine was really awesome. I was just doing some computerized sound effects, so I didn't have to march much. It was wet a lot of the time, so had I been marching, I would have liked it better than last year, when I played bass drum in really hot weather. The band sounds and looks great, and it just went up in size to almost 140 people (in a small-school division). We rehearsed 9 hours each day (9-12, 1-4:30, 7-9:30) for 6 days.

How is your camp organized?

Band Camp = sun burn or get tanned

I wish. I tan really well (Israeli), but there was only sun the last day where I was (upstate NY). :-( I was also under a tent the whole time, so that didn't help.

we had our band camp a week ago, now we just have regular rehersal 3 times a week. our bandcamp was for 1 and a half weeks (2 full weeks for newcomers) and we rehearsed everyday from 9-12, 1-4, 6-9
does any other band use the dot system? where you have dotbooks and stuff.

We have dotbooks, but IDK if anybody actually uses them if they aren't being checked by the drum majors. What class/state is your band? My band just moved up a class after getting 2nd last year in the lower class, but we seem to have pretty infrequent rehearsals (once a week during the year).

Hah, they made us call it "music retreat" because my band teacher's friends would make American Pie jokes otherwise... or so we were told.

im the band geek who sint in band (i did guard for about 3 and half years) so all my friends are in band, and im always in the band room (before school, lunch, afetr school, 4th period soemtimes (just for a few minutes, i dont ditch) uh, basically, always there... umm, lest see, i keep stuff in the band room, like during the day, which causes problems when we have a sub for band... last tiem that happened, the entire band broke into the room, by climbing on the roof, and going through the ceiling, i am NOT JOKING

My band camp was a total of 4 hours. 2 nights at the school for 2 hours each. And I'm dead serious.

Band camp=sex ed in american pie!

Our band camp is 4 nights, sleep away camp. We have dot books and it's a pretty big deal. If we forget it we run laps. We had more last year, but they cut it down to 250 this year. But i quit this year for a whole lotta reasons =(

My band camp was three days this year, but I never went because of conflicts with more important things (course scheduling and advisories). In HS it was 5 days, although for the percussion and dance lines it was 10.

our marching band had dot books last year. Anyone here from Upper Darby High? Aren't you guys like part of the top three marching bands on the East Coast?. anyway, band camp is fun (esp. the water fights).
