I’m from the Atlanta area! 8)
I had an interview about two Fridays ago and apparently 200+ applicants applied for the ATL market…but it’s better than many of the other markets like NYC with 600+ applicants. I was told that I’d be notified by May 14th…I need this! Haha!

PS - For those of you who are freaking out…I have a friend who made a 2010 on his SAT and he was accepted to Brown, UChicago, Columbia & more + waitlisted at Harvard & Princeton. But he was very involved with EC–he ran track and started his own fundraiser for Darfur. And he participated in the youth senate program, but that was his senior year. I’m sure you guys are totally fine because you guys already have higher SAT scores than I do!

Wow…I knew this was competitive, but I didn’t know that it was that competitive. I’m so glad I’m not in the NYC market now haha. I’m hoping that they’re not doing interviews in Detroit because less people applied…I really want to get this!!

Hello, other Silicon Valley-ers…and especially LHS student! I’m from Tino, and I applied to BOA as well.

Sigh I haven’t heard anything…no interview, no phone call, no mail, no nothing.

I’ve been soooo tempted to call their office but I didn’t.

This is nervewracking. I have a summer back-up plan, but I really want to get in. My extracurriculars are stellar (not to boast, but I had 2000+ hours) and I was very careful and sincere with my essays, but it’s scary how I haven’t even heard from them. Sigh.

and btw, is it just me, or do you guys also not see any changes made to your login page (BoA application site)? I’m especially referring to the 500$ mentioned somewhere in this thread. Last time I receieved anything from BoA was the confirmation letter that I submitted my app, and that’s it :(

2000+? how does that even work? I thought we were supposed to just put the past 2 years? So 1000 hours a year? 84 hours a month? Geez. I probably had barely 200. I’m glad I’m not in your market.

sigh i think waiting it out is the worst part ):

@nerdess…2000+ really? didnt the application say within the last year or two? how is that possible? you’d have to have put in about 2.6 hours a day or so lol. i dont see how you would have had time.
dang. and i thought my 300-400ish hours were good!
and im pretty sure that BofA realized how confusing the “5000” thing was so they might have revised it. I don’t think you should worry about that.

Waiting it out is the hardest part mostdefff. I’m from East Bay and I’m getting the feel that my market is crazy competitive…but nobody on here except for 1 other is from that area!

And what do you guys see on YOUR log in page? On mine, right underneath the

“UNSUBMITTED APPLICATIONS WILL BE DELETED AFTER 12 MONTHS” thing,

there’s NOTHING. ZILCH. NADA. Just that blue bar and the ominous msg in the grey box:

“» Thank you for your interest in the Student Leaders Program. The application period for the 2009 program has passed. We will begin accepting applications again next year. «”

Well I am Class President + NHS Social Manager + ASB + UN Club (been to Ethiopia in December) + Competitive Math secretary + many more…so yes, 2000+ hours! But don’t worry because I am well aware that I’m slightly on the crazy side of extracurriculars. >< It’s great to be involved but it’s tough. Don’t dwell on my numbers because I’m sure you guys have many great characteristics that I lack!

Oh -phew- at least it’s a relief that we’re in this together. I guess Silicon Valley chapter didn’t have too difficult of a time getting rid of applicants?

Between this and waiting for my ACT scores to come in, I’m pretty much going insane right now!! I have heard nothing so far…and it is VERY tempting to call their office but I haven’t…yet :P

Thank you for submitting an application to the Bank of America Charitable
Foundation Neighborhood Excellence Initiative™. All applicants will receive
notification of decisions no later than May 22, 2009.

@juliahhh I called and asked the hotline number, but they’re very sketchy. The lady said that she didn’t know and that “it would be determined with the students that are picked” so…yeah. I asked if it varied from market to market and she gave me the same answer. So I guess you should wait it out?

And I e-mailed them and they got my app! Hallelujah [:

@juliahhh maybe they just GOT my app. Lol. And was too lazy to throw it away ): I’m sure I didn’t get in, that girl with the 2000 volunteer hours makes me a bit antsy, even if she’s not in my market.

And I e-mailed cgsupport@cybergrants.com! This was the e-mail I got back after asking if they received my app:
