Barnard College ED Class of 2021!

@meimeilatte I feel like that is more a reflection of the fact that we’ve posted pretty often in this group and it rises to the top of the “recent posts” so people see it–I’ve seen totally basic questions with no answers get 5K views. @HongdouMianbao I’m afraid you’re right, but I’m hoping that the shakeup with Spar, the construction, and the lack of Malia Obama publicity applications will be down.

Yeah @rougesneakers I feel ya. I’m hoping that after all this trump stuff, international applications will be lower. Fingers crossed for all of us!!

I took a look at the Columbia ED forum and people are saying that Columbia sent an email stating that the decision date would be the 12th at 6pm est. Hopefully we get the same news soon!!

@HongdouMianbao i’m taking a gap year! i mentioned it on my application in the section they provided for it, but what do you mean you contacted them about it? also, what are you doing for your gap year? nice to know i’m not the only one on the class of 2021 thread applying for the class of 2022 lol

On another note- what alternative schools have you guys applied to/ will apply to if you don’t get in? There’s no school as perfect as Barnard and I want nothing more than to go to there- but trying to prep for the worst too just in case… Hoping we all still get in though!!

.

@hopeful223 As far as the Seven Sisters go, I’m also applying to Smith, Bryn Mawr, and Wellesley (free application!). I applied EA to Fordham (with the free application they send out), and I’m applying to American and GWU in DC. I’m also applying to NYU (where I will likely not be attending and putting myself into insane debt even if I get in) and BU (likewise). I may throw a few more schools on the list (I’m part of a scholarship program that helps to pay for application fees, so I have a bit more freedom than I normally would). I’m also applying to Eugene Lang as a safety.

did all of you guys do the barnard summer program?? because I didnt, and Im scared that it will affect my chances of acceptance :frowning:

I went to the summer program! It probably won’t hurt you that much hat you didn’t go @ibstudent111

I’m from NC, so I’m applying to a lot of NC schools like Davidson, Wake Forest, and UNC-Chapel Hill, but I also applied to NYU, Carnegie Mellon, Brandeis, and a bunch more haha.

@ibstudent111 It wouldn’t hurt, but there’s no way they’ll hold it against you. It was much too expensive for me, especially since I’ve relied on the summers to make money to save for college (although I ended up working too many hours at an unpaid nonprofit internship to really make any real money outside of portrait photography/babysitting/odd jobs–the curse of loving something too much to scale it back!). As long as you were productive during your summers you should be fine!

@rougesneakers Okay good! lol i interviewed and toured so i definitely showed as much interest as I could!! Ahhh soo stressed i want to know their decision right now

Hi! I’ve been stalking this thread for quite a while since I applied ED to Barnard, and thought I’d finally say something.

Has anyone heard anything new about when decisions come out? I know Columbia applicants got an email already saying the 12th. Since we haven’t gotten an email yet, does that mean Barnard will come out later, or can they just email us on like Friday and still tell us the 12th?? Ah I’m so nervous

Did any of you sit in on a class? I sat in on an Intro to Anthropology class and it was the coolest thing ever!! It made me want to go so, so bad.

@bookrath they’re supposed to send out an email with the decision date sometime soon, but, when I called them, they were really vague about when they were going to send out an email—sometime between now and Monday. If it’s the 12th the email should be on its way!

@mintstars Yes! I was in a packed poli sci class. I love the professor’s work and follow his amazing political commentary on twitter) and watching him lecture in person was was kind of like seeing a celebrity.

@bookrath Welcome to the fray! I think the general consensus here is that the 12th is fairly likely.

Thank you!!

hey! I already applied to Temple, UMass Amherst, and Tulane EA. If I don’t get into Barnard I’m sending applications off to NYU, BU, American, Smith, Brandeis, and Oberlin.

@rougesneakers what professor was it? i want to be a poli sci major, so I’m curious
