Basic info for HS Seniors.

This is just a thread for the upcoming High School Seniors who will be applying to UF this year. It covers pretty much the basics.

1) Start on your essay now, get as many people to revise, make it unique, and stay on topic!
2) Calculate your desire GPA. Then you will know what kind of grades you should be making. Also if you're close to the next higher gpa (Ex; 3.95), take an extra academic honor's course on FLVS, and make that 4.0 gpa.
3) Always retake SAT/ACT with writing, unless you made a stellar score.
4) Do NOT just send your transcripts, make sure your grades are correct and you are receiving honors/ap/ib..etc points for those courses. Computers DO make mistakes. You can also check on facts.org for Florida's high school students.
5)Last month to send your transcripts/scores is December. Unless you applied after Nov 1st.
6)Only send what they ask for. They do not want recommendations, do not send recommendations. Sometimes counselors will send them anyway, so I guess UF is okay with those.
7) Attend UF programs and shadow days. Add that to your UF application.
8) Continue to stay in CROP, Educational Talent Search, and Upward Bound. They give "brownie" points for the TRIO Program. The officer said this himself.
9) After they have receive your transcript, call them and ask for your UF GPA and see if its around the same calculation that you have. Its good to let them break things down for you, so you can be sure it's correct.
10) Patiently wait for February to arrive and hope that you will be the next gator at UF!!

If I forgot any, others can post them.

If you are dual enrolled, and transferring with an AA, know and take the pre-reqs for your major. They will not take transfer students who do not have the pre-reqs for their majors…
