The college i will be attending next fall offers a BBA with emphasis in Accounting and a BS in Accounting. I would like to be an accountant. Which of these would give me the best career oppurtunities?

Doesn't matter...which ever one fulfills the requirements to sit for the CPA test in your state.

Ditto. It doesn't matter and either degree is usually enough to sit for the CPA exam in any state. Just verify that with your college. That said, a BSBA with an emphasis in accounting looks slightly better on your resume once you get in the job market because of its perceived "broader" scope.

Unless your job is in accounting then a B.S. will look better.
Typically, the difference between a BBA-Acct and BS-Acct offered by the same school is that the BBA calls for the student to take fewer acct courses and more business electives (beyond the marketing, finance, info sys, management, etc. required by all business school students).

The local recruiters are in touch with the campus community and know the difference. Ask them next job fair. And you have 2 years, maybe even 3 to think about it.
