On a practical note, I am puzzled by the xlong designation. Do only the sheets come in that size? or should a duvet & duvet cover also be available in that size?
I seem to have found duvets in the xlong but NOT the covers. Are they out there somewhere? Also, is it necessary?
Thanks

yes yes and yes. but buying a comforter is way easier, and they come in twin xl at walmart, linens and things, bed bath & beyond, etc. etc. call res. life and ask what size their beds are - in inches. then compare and contrast to find out what you REALLY need.

I had a regular size comforter (get one at a Ralph Lauren factory outlet--I got a nice down comforter for only $99) and it fit the bed fine. With sheets you'll definitely need XL. Tommy Hilfiger sells good ones and they can be found at Macy's. You also need an XL mattress pad.

Unfortunately for me, I now have two sets of XL sheets and a mattress pad that I can no longer use since I moved back home. I personally hated XL beds, but being 5'9" and a severe insomniac who takes a long time to adjust to any bedding change had a lot to do with it.

Isn't washing a duvet cover way easier that washing a comforter?

check out the company store they always have good bedding in all sizes

bump bump (minimum letters)

Well I mean, I don't ever wash my comforter during the school year. I just do it when I get home for the summer. I personally think it's enough to just do sheets and blankets and whatnot. BUT if you like to wash your comforter often then that might be the better option for you, and in that case I'd suggest just getting regular twin. One of my friends got a duvet in just regular twin size and it was fine.

OK thanks for the advice. Now I guess I'll just look for something I like.

You SHOULD wash your comforter every six weeks. Things get set on top of it (clothes, books, yourself, etc) that may have germs on them. Best to fight the bacteria.

Well, I mean, that gets a little challenging sometimes, and college washers aren't really of the greatest quality, so I survived without washing mine. that might be because half the time it was folded up on the bottom (I never really make my bed) and my bed was lofted, so I hardly made it up there. lol.

You can get a duvet for a twin and it should be fine. That's what I'm doing. I only got the sheets in twin xl.
