^you’re so much more patient than i am. i’m calling as soon as their offices open lol-__-

When I emailed my counselor, I got an out-of-office reply until Wednes but she stated she will reply to all her emails that day. Do you think I should call today and speak with someone else or just wait and see what she says on Wednes? This is regarding my conditions stating that I need a B in a class that I am never required to take for my major (though other majors in the College of Chemistry require it).

@redo: lol, I’m not calm, I just have a huge midterm today afternoon and a long evening class. So I’ll be super busy today (starting now, lol).
@kilmyentourage: You can wait or call admissions (I couldn’t wait until Wednesday!!!).

@redo: I’m actually super nervous. I really want to SIR so I can register for an early CalSo date. Plus I have that whole “I-want-to-switch/add on-to-a-capped-major” thing going on as well…

ahhhh i want you to be june 9th with me!!! and yeah lol good luck with that. i’m sure they will let you though, you have perfect grades! when do you find out if you get into the second major or not?

I had the same issue as everyone here. I would recommend calling as soon as possible so that they can direct you on what actions you can take to get this cleared ASAP!

I just got off the phone with my Admissions Officer in regards to the matter. I told her my situation and she put me on hold for a pretty long time. She was making sure the course I ended up not taking didn’t interfere with IGETC, prerequisites, or unit transfer requirements. As long as everything is accounted for, you all should be golden! Today however is the first working day after acceptance letters have been released so beware it might be busy.

Be sure to have your Berkeley student ID ready, and as much information about the courses you didn’t take and are taking including course numbers/titles. (Got sort of chewed out for this one).

Good luck everyone and congratulations on your acceptance!

Hey, similar-ish question. My plan is to take a math and science class next spring before I transfer, required for UCSC and UCLA, respectively. If I get into Berkeley, is it a big deal to make one or both of those courses pass/no pass (assuming you still can on that date, anyway)?

**UPDATE

Okay, so I just spoke to my admissions officer on the phone (Angie Williams)…and she said I am cleared to turn in my SIR because my course changes do NOT affect my IGETC and the 60-unit requirement.

I sent her an e-mail prior to calling her and I listed all the courses I had planned to take and the ones I am actually taking. If you have course changes too, I recommend you do this if you haven’t already… because otherwise, she won’t be able to tell you much on the phone.

Yay!

I called this morning, and basically she just said she had to review my file and would get back to me asap by phone call or email. However. She did say that if the igetc, the 90 unit requirement, and my pre-reqs weren’t affected I shouldn’t worry too much.

eeekkkkkk I want her to get back to me noooowwww! But she was very nice :D

I need to get on this myself. I put down some planned courses for summer on my application, nothing important, but I don’t think they are being offered at De Anza. Hope that’s a good enough excuse for not taking them.

@ killmyentourage: Who else can we call besides the admissions officer we are assigned?

I’m sure you could call the general admissions office. My counselor’s (Kristine Lee) out of office reply said to call Angie Williams if there was an emergency but I’m sure they’re really busy and I don’t really have an emergency (just my lame self not believing I can get the grade I’m randomly required to). I think I might just wait until Wednesday so I can deal with my assigned counselor directly. I have a meeting set up with my teacher to beg for him to give me extra credit so I can guarantee my B if my request to revise my conditions of admissions fails.

But to the people who are trying to fix a W or change your planned courses, I think it is better to contact them now rather than later so they can see you are making an effort.

Hello all:

I am in the same situation as you guys. I was at first ecstatic that I was accepted to what may be one the best schools on the West Coast, but when I read the “Conditions of Admission,” the feeling turned into paralyzing terror. For me, it is two courses I said I would take in Spring, which I could not do (due to college not offering them, etc.). the situation may be compounded for me, because I am an out-of-state transfer student.

I have the same counselor as killmyentourage; so I got the same “come back Wednesday” response (aghh!). I don’t want to sound rude, but deciding to leave after the weekend admission results are posted is mean for students who have issues that “can have their admission offer withdrawn” (according to the FAQs), especially after working for two years to get to this point. In any case, I sent a large email to Angie as well; still haven’t got a reply yet. :/

I’ll post updates as they come in. Hopefully, my story will help calm and reassure other students in the same boat as us.

UPDATE:
Hey everyone,
My counselor just sent me an email stating that she already made the changes to my Conditions of Admission. I checked the myBerkeleyApplication and now the old course is gone and the new one is there!!! So happy :)! Gotta go SIR now!

I also got an email from my admissions counselor that she updated my conditions, and now that course is erased when I check my admission conditions.

I just sent an her an email over the weekend explaining that I had withdrawn from an elective class, why I withdrew, that it wasn’t a major pre-req, and that I’ve already completed IGETC and met the unit requirement. Just make sure to include all pertinent information, including your ID number. At least in my case it totes wasn’t a big deal.

UPPDAATTEEEE
my conditions of admission have finally been changed to my current spring classes. and i’m pretty much set to go.

IM SO EXCITED FOR BERKELEY AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Update:

My admission officer got back to me yesterday. Surprisingly, she simply changed the courses on my conditions of admission page to my current ones (with no questions asked). I guess my frantic/long emails made my situation clear (or I simply over-reacted to a fairly common occurrence). In any case, I was able to submit my SIR without a hitch. Now it’s time for the mountains of paperwork to be filled [it’s good paperwork though ].

For people watching, I would recommend writing full, detailed, emails describing your situation (probably knew that already). Other than that, I would remain patient (you waited 5 months for the decision, a few more days probably won’t hurt).

BTW, am I the only one that found receiving an “@berkeley.edu” email address intensely rewarding?

^hell no. i teared up after seeing it.

Lol. My email was LONG (included every little detail).

@redo: When I looked at my Condition of Admission, I almost couldn’t be happy about my acceptance because I already saw myself getting rescinded. What calmed me down was finding out that so many people on CC were having the same problem I was having ;).

I just want to be informative of all the future admits that if you are an English major, like me, and you are missing one pre-req, which is listed on your conditions of admission, don’t panic and lose hope like I almost did. I thought missing a pre-req would put my admission status into jeopardy, and I would then have to go through the hassle of writing an appeal letter and what not. However, my adviser just emailed me back today (5-8-2014) and told me that she took that pre-req off my admission contract. SUCH A RELIEF! She said I should be able to complete it once I’m enrolled in Berkeley.

But still note that I’m an English major with ONE missing pre-req. And I fully explained my situation (that my college does not offer that pre-req) in my email to her.
