So I'm applying to Haas in a couple months, but I heard that if you don't complete all the prereqs before you apply, you will be ineligible. Is this true? So far this is what I have completed. Please chance me for Haas and LA (Business Econ)!

Ewrt 2 - A

Summer 2009

So far on the prereqs I'm missing : Stats 10, Ewrt 1B/1C, and Calc 3A which I plan on taking in the Spring, but will colleges consider the fact that I took the higher class and got an A ?

What do you mean your ap score doesn’t qualify? I got a 4 too…and interestingly enough also go to de anza but took 3b at west valley lol, cuz I thought we needed a semester of calc…I didn’t realize it had to be 3a…also, did u process 3b for placement at de anza? I asked to get 1c cleared with it and so got placed into 1d but now I wonder if I should’ve tried to place into 2a…

Oh, and no, I’m pretty sure you don’t have to finish them before applying…I won’t have them finished lol, especially since I’m applying just as I start de anza…

Yeah i transferred it to De Anza and it clears math 1c. And I checked UCLA for business econ and Cal for Haas and you need a 5 on AB for LA and 5 on BC for Haas. I’m not sure that the semester for calc had to be 3A but it was listed on assist.

I just wanted to clear some things up for you guys…

I have attended Cal admissions workshops and let me tell you:

It is true. You will be automatically denied if you are missing a single prerequisite. For example, if you took the wrong Intro to Business class you will be denied automatically.

This is the reason why Haas’ admission rate is so low. It’s true admission rate is about 20% when you factor out all who didn’t quality (which is nearly double that than those applicants who did qualify.)

I didn’t make this stuff up, an admissions officer talked about it during her presentation.

I don’t believe (can’t see how it’d be possible) you’re denied if they aren’t completed prior to applying, they are worried about them being completed by spring.

So I talked to a Cal rep the other day at school. He told me that as long as you show that you are completing all the prereqs and breadth, then you qualify.

Oh yeah, oh my gosh… I hope I didn’t confuse you guys… I meant they must be done by the end of the Spring semester that you apply of course. Sorry for any confusion. But it’s true that if you are missing a single prereq or took the wrong class (even if it’s similar) you will be automatically denied. The acceptance rate is actually fairly good when you remove those who were disqualified from the statistic… Although that’s not to say that applicants aren’t still very, very competitive.

So if you’re missing a prereq, call Cal up yourself ASAP and explain the situation.

Everything can be answered from there. About 1400 or so apply every year and 1000 are automatically rejected for not showing completion or planned completion of all pre-reqs and/or breadth requirements.
