Is it possible to get accepted for transfer even if you do not complete all the prereqs?

Just wondering, because I’m a second year CCC business administration major with UC Berkeley Haas being my top choice which UCLA Biz Econ as a back up. I completed the prereqs and breadth requirements for Haas in my first year at CCC and will complete the prereqs for UCLA by Spring before I transfer. My overall GPA is 3.982 with 84 completed quarter units after Fall 2014, and 122 total quarter units completed when I do transfer.

However, I also applied to UCSD for economics, but will be missing the Mathematics 1D prereq (Foothill) due to Foothill only offering it during the time I work. Does this mean I am automatically rejected? I’m expecting a rejection, but just want to make sure that missing a prereq is the cause.

missing a prereq for UCSD, for a non-impacted major, should have little to no effect on your acceptance.

what does the assist page say?

^^^^^^^

So I’ll be fine to just assume my missing prereq would be the reason for a rejection? If it’s possible to still get in and I get rejected from UCSD, it’ll really make me nervous about UC Berkeley as that means UCSD may have rejected me for my another reason.

@spenceyboi‌ Just wanna let you know, I got accepted in to UCSD on 3/13 as an econ: Management Science. I missed out Cal3, and Linear Algebra . I also applied to UCLA business econ and UCB econ. My gpa is 4.0 :). Hope you can hear good news soon !

WHAT DOES YOUR ASSIST PAGE SAY

^^^^^^^

Well I took the liberty of looking up your assist page:

Special Advising Note:

Transfer students are strongly advised to complete as many preparatory courses as soon as possible for their major before enrolling at UC San Diego. This should include lower division economics courses (Microeconomics & Macroeconomics) as well as the calculus classes that are required. Students are not able to begin their upper division core economics courses until the three required math classes are complete. Having some or all of these classes complete, will help students move more efficiently toward graduation.

So I’m going to assume it’s not required but it’s heavily suggested that you get all your pre-reqs done, so no I don’t think you’re automatically rejected if you’re missing a pre-req.

Thanks @luckie1367 , @lindyk8 for always showing up in every thread haha. You guys are great. Thanks @81Mamba And double thanks @StoneTower for looking it up! The wording on the assist page was always a little odd, but I always just assumed prerequisites means just that - a requirement to transfer.

Also, congratulations @boy561 !

No problem.

If the classes are required for transfer, it will say so very clearly on assist.

No probs, if you have any questions though I suggest you go see your counselor about assist page wording. Assist can be a bit tricky (I know I’ve had tons of confusion with it in the pass lul) But some colleges don’t actually need you to complete all your pre-reqs to transfer. It depends on the school + major a lot of the time, I think.
