Berkeley's rep, or lack thereof, on the east coast

*I'm an English major, and I'm not nitpicking people's posts.

"Also, tallkell, how 'bout you brag about getting into Cal when you go and actually succeed? Getting in is only the beginning."

All of you are so quick to jump on the "tallkell is an egotistic b****" bandwagon before you actually examine the facts. I have never bragged about getting into Cal until someone has provoked me.

As far as begin successful at Cal? Not only will I be, but I will graduate with honors then go on to a top law school. Though I may not be the smartest person ever, which I have never claimed to be, I am very focused. Once I set my mind to something..I succeed.

sweet jesus....you guys are intense about the strangest stuff.

It is fun to read though. ;)

"All of you are so quick to jump on the "tallkell is an egotistic b****" bandwagon before you actually examine the facts."

I'm just jealous that you're hot. Browsing through facebook, I can already tell that you'll be a diamond in the rough. The girls of UCB make the Omega Mu's from Revenge of the Nerds look like America's Top Models. However, it works out because I'll compliment them just fine with my Long Duk Dong a$s.

HAHAHA! Oh, man.

"However, it works out because I'll compliment them just fine with my Long Duk Dong a$s."

Can you please interpret? I don't understand ghetto slang.

"Can you please interpret? I don't understand ghetto slang"

I was referring to the Asian character Long Duk Dong in the 80's teen movie Sixteen Candles.

Of course you will.

As one of my professors gracefully said: "If you major in communications and do not graduate with a 4.0, you are ****ing retarded."

You seem a little less retarded than "****ing," so you should do well!

or i could switch to philosophy and take classes for 6 years until I can become a bitter professor because I can't get a real job while still paying off my overpriced undergrad education from a school ranked #23.

oh, and btw...Mass Communications is my major..not Communications..big difference. And berkeley mass comm is one of the most impacted majors in letters and science at Berkeley..philosophy is not.

Considering your major..and your school..and the amount of post you have made on college confidential..you are the f***ing retard.

Jesus H. Christ man. Ow.

"oh, and btw...Mass Communications is my major..not Communications..big difference. And berkeley mass comm is one of the most impacted majors in letters and science at Berkeley..philosophy is not."

Ok, so a major being impacted means it's ... ? The fact that there are too many people for spaces available means what? Seriously? And again, you haven't even been admitted into the major...

Further, the idea that you would call someone "****ing retarded" partly based on them majoring in philosophy is majestically disgusting. Frankly, any major related to communications is considered to be on a low level compared to philosophy: the greatest, oldest, most important discipline of all academia; communications is offered at many CSUs for instance, while philosophy is not. Communications may be perceived to be more practical, but that CERTAINLY doesn't lead to philosophy majors being less intelligent in ANY WAY.

For some reason a popular major (and far more popular than "mass communications") for going to law school is... philosophy!

In fact, who scores among the highest on the LSAT? Philosophy majors.

Where is communications? Down at the very bottom. Perhaps your focus will save you, but I doubt it.

Give me a break. Not only do I regard GTown as a better undergraduate school than Cal, but I was admitted at UChicago and Rice, both of which are ranked higher and to which you cannot be admitted.

For the thousandth time: impacted just means it is popular, not that it is rigorous. People could be flocking to it simply because it is easy.

For someone so bright and focused, you seem to have poor memory. I keep regurgitating these same responses every time we argue, and you keep forgetting them. Selective memory, or willful ignorance? I call it stupidity.

And Georgetown is sooo awful.

Such ridiculous posts.

everyone knows communications is a joke major...yea philosophy might not get you a good starting job....but it requires analytic thinking and is much respected....

PS: why is pre-law so low on that list....lol

[quote]
What is the best "pre-law" curriculum? How does one prepare for law school?

The Harvard Law School faculty prescribes no fixed requirements with respect to the content of pre-legal education. The nature of candidates' college work, as well as the quality of academic performance, is taken into account in the selection process. As preparation for law school, a broad college education is usually preferable to one that is narrowly specialized. The Admissions Committee looks for a showing of thorough learning in a field of your choice, such as history, economics, government, philosophy, mathematics, science, literature or the classics, rather than a concentration in courses given primarily as vocational training. The Admissions Committee considers that those programs approaching their subjects on a more theoretical level, with attention to educational breadth, are better preparatory training for the legal profession than those emphasizing the practical.

Communications is nowhere to be found!

Woooaaaaa.

<a href="http://www.law.harvard.edu/admissions/jd/HLSfaqs.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.law.harvard.edu/admissions/jd/HLSfaqs.php</a></p>

hahah just found this

<a href="http://ls.berkeley.edu/ugis/masscomm/major/requirements-courses.php%5B/url%5D">http://ls.berkeley.edu/ugis/masscomm/major/requirements-courses.php</a></p>

only THREE core courses...the rest are like GE courses...lol...so hard...

<a href="http://www.princeton.edu/main/academics/departments/%5B/url%5D">http://www.princeton.edu/main/academics/departments/</a></p>

No "communications" major at one of the best schools in the nation. I wonder whyyyyy.....

Where is tallkell?

Perhaps she can flash someone into giving answers during the LSAT. That will probably give her a better score than the preperation from her major would...

... even considering that the students adjacent to you during the LSAT have different tests.

Communications is a discipline built around a practical approach, so it is clearly not what Harvard Law is looking for.

Listen, I didn't start this argument...you did as usual bashing anyone that doesnt have the same major or go to georgetown like you. if you had some semblance of a life you wouldnt continue to post on these forums (3,000+ posts!?) trying to make yourself look all-knowing instead of what you really are as a trolling idiot who has nothing better to do then go on forums which are not relevant to you...myself and everyone else here are just trying to figure out our next step and transferring and we dont need you posting your smartass remarks every other post...go get laid or something, maybe you wont be such a prick and need to do this to get off, you wont see me on here after I've started 3rd year...

And P.S. of course philosophy majors are the ones that take LSATs because they cant get any jobs with just that degree...but dont worry about me, ill do just fine in my major and ill take my LSATs and get into just as good of a law school as those elitist philosophy majors...you can flame all you want and quote me just like lame-o's do on forums but i am going to go out and have a good time now and your the one sitting in your room at 1:30 in the morning whacking off to star wars anime and trolling on this forum...out

Bump.

I want people to witness the demise of tallkel. This will be a day long remembered for the empire...

(too much Star Wars)
