Dear parents, I'm an international student with almost no meney to attend US colleges. I'm looking for non need based scholarships besides need based ones. I'm hoping someone can help name some very good and guaranteed scholarships that are given based on SATs GPAs or ECs......... Thanks a million!

Boston University has two merit-based scholarships open to international students. The Trustee Scholarship covers full-tuition, but it requires an extra essay and a nomination form filled out by your school principal, and the application must be turned in by Dec. 1 (a month early). The University Scholarship covers half-tuition and doesn't require any special application process. The BU scholarship website is located here.

The BU scholarship isn't automatic, however. It's extremely hard to get. I know a student who got one and she was from Eastern Europe, was very low income, and was the val or sal out of an IB program.

I am not aware of any scholarships for internationals that are easy to get. THe competition is fierce because relatively few US colleges offer scholarships to internationals, and there are lots of spectacularly high achieving internationals who'd like to study in the U.S.

Tulane offers a lot of great scholarships, there's the Dean's Honor one (for academically gifted students), and I got one of the two full tuition community service scholarship offers.... so yea, I'd recommend Tulane by a lot. plus, it's a great place to be active in urban revitalization, which you can integrate into many courses of study.

Oh, sorry; I missed the "guaranteed" qualifier in the OP. Northstarmom is right that merit scholarships for inthernationals are difficult to come by.

Whitman has some merit scholarships that all students are considered for, so you need not apply.

luckycharm, howard university has scholarships (free room board everything!) based on sats,.

I've heard that Macalester gives great aid to international students, which is why its int'l student population is so high.

look in financial aid for more sources for international students

thanks a lot for the responses......... Does anyone know of any other scholarships like those at Howards which are also open to internationals?
