Ive heard that Mt. Olympus has the best dorms for freshman. Is this true/what do you guys think?

It's not the best actuall dorms but the party scene is the best. the best dorms where freshmen may live would be lawrinson and BBB....as far as space and suites go...but flint and day (on mt. olympus) are mostly open doubles but has a wild party scene.

I'm in Sadler and I think it's great. I'm in the Honors LC and I have a large split double (I moved my bed to the window wall for even more space). All my classes are on the side of campus nearest to me and we have a snack bar and dining hall in the dorm. It's easy to get to marshall street and on weekends the buses stop right outside the dorm. I'm not near the Frats, it takes like 15 min to get to that part of campus. I think Sadler is a nice place to live.

the dorms on the mount are where most freshmen live. it's the best because everyone bonds and becomes really close, and theres a great party scene there too. it doesn't really matter what the dorm looks like

i really like Lawrinson...i like the many split doubles...it seems more spacious than some other dorms.

one of my friends told me about the walnut house or something... said his brother was there and it was rpetty cool, but that was a while ago

i heard split doubles are nice... are there any current students that can vouch for that?

yep. I like having a roommate, but I also like my privacy. works perfectly. You don't have to be uncomfortable when changing clothes, you can leave your lights on when the other is asleep, and some noise is muffled by the split, so we can both have music/tvs on without bugging each other. Plus, if I have my friends over, it's not like they're disturbing her. Oh and if you're both messy (haha you should see how bad my roomie and I are) the wooden split works better than a tape line.

How soon should I send in housing stuff? I'm still waiting on other colleges.

also, any thoughts on the learning communities?

isn't housing done by lottery?

yeah. Unless you're in an LC you just get tossed into housing. I didn't choose to be in an LC, but I was tossed into one anyway. They just grouped freshmen in the honors program on a floor. I actually really like it. It builds a sense of, well, community. Plus you know that you're getting students of a certain type on your floor (whether they're photography buffs in the Light Work LC or international relations enthusiasts in the IRLC).

what have you heard about the lgbta lc? i was thinking about picking that one, i'm not gay, but i'm really into gay issues and rights, and i think it would be SO fun!

everyone knows the best dorm is Brockway.

Walnut is the ideal location on the north campus for sophmores+... i havent heard of any freshmen getting Walnut though.

The party scene is not crazy up here at all. I am currently a Freshmen in Whitman. Yea we drink the rooms, but it is always before we go out to a Frat or house party. There is nothing distracting about the partying up here. I like it up here. A good balance of social life and work. I think flint is a little nicer than day. thats just my opinion though.
