Best Dorms

Simple enough question - Which UCSD college has the best dorms?

Muir's triple rooms are the most spacious out of all of the other colleges' dorms I have visited (I have never been to sixth college before though...). Tenaya was just renovated last summer so everything was BRAND NEW when we moved in this Fall. Tioga was renovated last, last summer, so it is still pretty new too.

ERC's dorms are probably the prettiest, but location sucks and you have to take 6 quarters of MMW if you live in them!

how are warren dorms :P

And how easy is it to switch colleges before entering?

It is next to impossible to ever switch colleges at UCSD. Be prepared to accept the one you are in.

I really need to know quite a bit about Revelle College then. :D

Revelle College (overview)

Thurgood Marshall is arguably the best college at UCSD: great GE's (more flexible than Muir's) + great dorms. Consider yourself lucky if you picked TMC!

I thought warren had better GEs than Muir or TMC. Warren has less GE requirements, so wouldn't that be better than either Muir or TMC? or am i missing something from the big picture?

I got into TMC but i don't remember why i picked it as my top choice. I think it was a combination of low-GEs and great food

^ I think the OP is talking about the best looking and most spacious dorms, rather than the dorms with the most/least GE reqs.

plz give more info about revelle whoever has it

Arguably by a stretch. No way on the GEs man, no freakin way.

more on muir please :]

Muir and ERC have the best living suitations. By far.

more on muir please :]

Warren's dorms are quite nice. I'm in a single right now, and I like it. I had a few friends come by and visit two days ago, and they also thought the warrren dorms were the nicest of what they saw (they saw warren, muir, and marshall). Apartmentwise, I'd have to say its not Warren, since you only can get doubles or triples. Some of the other colleges (muir comes to mind) offer singles.

There might be pictures somewhere in this forum of dorms. I can take pics of my dorms and post them somewhere if there is popular demand.

I live in a triple in Tenaya: My Dorm Room on Vimeo

Muir definitely has the best dorms/location/GE balance out of all six colleges.

Warren's dorms are okay (the bathrooms are kinda gross... but I have only visited guys' suites in Warren so maybe it's just them xP), but they are SO FAR from everything on campus! The only major lecture hall that is "close" to the Warren dorms is Warren Lecture Hall... and it still takes more than five minutes to walk there. However, if you are an engineering major, most of the classes for your major will be kinda close to the Warren dorms... but you probably won't be taking too many upper divisions in your first/second year while you are living on campus anyway.

Marshall's dorms are really cramped and stuffy, in my opinion. The layout of the buildings are a little confusing for me, but a big plus is that if you live in Marshall, you practically live next door to OVT!

Bad news for incoming Muir and Revelle students. Word on the streets is that the dining halls (summit and plaza) will be undergoing construction beginning January of '09. I don't know how long it'll take but i'm guessing AT LEAST a quarter. The next closes place is OVT, which is a ways walk for both Muir and Revelle students (twice the distance for Revelle students). With that said, Muir is STILL the BEST college :) : Lenient GE's, awesome location (relative to the beach and campus), and that fact that we have designated IMs.

Actually a lot of the computer engineering classes (lower divs) are in the engineering buildings. But yes, warren is a bit far from places. Not as bad as Sixth.

WHAT THE! I'm going to Revelle! AHHHH!
