I'm a HS junior and right now I'm taking AP Lang & Comp. I plan to take the AP test and I'm pretty sure I'll get a 4 or 5. Next year, we have the option of taking AP Lit & Comp, English Comp 1 Honors for 3 college credits through Middlesex County College, or English Comp 1&2 Honors for 6 college credits through MCC. I was planning on taking AP Lit and taking the AP test as well, but I heard that some schools won't accept credit from both AP Lang and AP Lit. Does anyone know Rutgers' policy on this? I tried looking on the website but it didn't give too much information. Also, if I take Comp 1 H or Comp 1&2 H, will that exempt me from any basic writing classes at Rutgers? Everyone has to take Expository Writing, right? But is it possible for me to take a class in HS and not have to take it at Rutgers? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks :)

If you’re sure you are going to Rutgers then a 4 or 5 on either AP Lang or AP Lit will get you out of the mandatory freshman writing class (Expos) so if you do good on Lang there will be no need for you to take Lit. However, if you are considering other schools besides Rutgers some schools do take both AP Lang and AP Lit. Hope I helped.

Rutger’s policy on both AP English tests is this:
If you get a 4/5 on one of the two, you have credit for Expository Writing 101.
If you get a 4/5 on both, you have credit for both Expos and Expos II.

thanks guys!

also, if you are going for the pharmacy school, you wont be able to use ur AP lit/lang credits for expos. you will be forced to take expos.

and you can only transfer up to 8 credits (ap, college credit) IF you are going for the PHARMACY program.
