How does the quality of life differ between the 6 colleges? I've looked at the GE requirements and each of the college philsophies, but I am having a hard time determining which one would fit me. From what I've read so far, people seem to prefer less GE's....but then why would people choose Revelle? Do the 6 colleges within UCSD rank differently in terms of prestige? How are the dorms, social scene, and opportunity factor for these colleges?

Also, is it difficult to change majors/colleges at UCSD? If someone can provide some insight for each of these colleges, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

its very difficult to change colleges, i tried to but they wanted me to prove that i could graduate 2 quarters earlier if i changed colleges. so bull. but yea you can change majors easily, but the impacted majors are hard to get into. u need like certain gpa after however many classes/units/quarters. anywaysyea revelle has a crap load of ges. im doing bio and revelle is ok because i have most ges over with bc of ap credit and community college credits. i just have language req left and im saving that for junior year or in the summer. i think the social scene for every college is somewht similar and dorms are the worst in revelle. erc the best. and with opportunity, i mean u can have any major no matter what college ur in. so thats not a problem. if ur worried about too many ges, just go with the least one. revelle fleets may be ghetto, but you learn to deal with it

I found I could skip out a lot of the GEs too...
Chem AP , APUSH, Biology AP, Spanish or any language AP and calc BC (all with decent scores) let's you skip out of a lot of stuff too.

4 for spanish or any language AP, 3 for chem, 2 for apush, 2 for bio, 3 with calc. And then you can skip out of more if you take other ap classes but they aren't as dramatic in terms of the number of classes you can skip. That's 14 out of 26 classes you can skip with just general APs that are rather common. Leaving you with a grand total of 12 classes left! It's not that big of a deal if you come in with a decent amount of credits. (I hope I'm not sounding arrogant)

Another note, I know at one college, you can't take their writing at a community college. You can essentially take all your hum at a community college (I did 2 of Hum 3-4-5 over the summer before I came for fun because the classes at my community college interested me and I took it with friends)
