My daughter is currently taking pre-AP Precalculus. Is it better for her to take the Math IIC subject test this May / June, or wait until next year after she completes AP Calculus?

Any suggestions about test prep books would also be appreciated.

Have her take it this spring. There's no calc on the IIc exam, so it's better to take the test while the material's still fresh. I think I took it in June, but May's probably fine too.

I used Barron's and Sparknotes. Barron's was insanely difficult, Sparknotes more closely resembled the actual test.

DEFINITELY before AP Calculus... the calc stuff is totally different and it messes with your head. ;D Not really, but it's definitely a different kind of math, so it's better to get the pre-calc stuff over and done with before things start changing.

BEFORE Calculus.
As mentioned above, Calculus and Precalculus are two rather unrelated branches, in spite of the deceptive and silly naming scheme.

Besides, it's best to take these exams as many times as one possibly can,
to ensure as many opportunities to improve as one needs.

IMO December of the year you are taking Precalc is best. You have plenty of times to retake the test, and while you're doing the test you can also study for the finals. (That's what I did, and I'm getting scores tomorrow O_o)
