I'm a junior this year and I'm interested in visiting Dartmouth. I'm considering goin next April Vacation. I live relatively close (in MA) so I could probably do it another weekend if the experience would be better.

Would it be better to visit sometime in the fall or in the spring?

I hesitate to advise a native New Englander on this, but I think Dartmouth is at its most spectacular in the fall. You know how mushy and brown the short springs can be, particularly in the mountains. On the other hand, the Dartmouth system means that there are students there year round, so don't forget that summer would be fine, too.

It depends on when your vacation falls in April.

The college may not be able to accomodate you as admissions decisions go out in April.

The school holds Dimensions for admitted students in April. Also in april newly admitted students who can't make dimensions will probably use their spring breaks in april to visit. Unless you know some one who can host you it would be sketchy as far as admissions to set you up with a host.

By Dartmouth being on the quarter system, fall classes do not begin unil mid/late september. IF you know someone currently in attendance, try to schedule around columbus day or election day when you are off and classes at Dartnouth is in session

Definitely go in the fall, near the start of the school year if you can. The leaves changing, Ultimate Frisbee on the Green, and the enthusiasm of new students such as myself make it an excellent time to visit. I first set foot on Dartmouth's campus one year ago today, and immediately knew it was where, if possible, I wanted to spend my collegiate years. I am now sitting and typing this from my East Wheelock dorm; my dream has come true. Hopefully yours will too...
