^^^Now THERE’S a plan! We could do a massive CC house swap to achieve in-state tuition. WOO HOO :))
BAL @unifieds! We found them to be a fascinating experience in NYC.
House Swaps Sounds like a great plan. I’d even paint for free if necessary for In-State Tuition haha
Yes, to the house swap!
@actingdreams and @momof2lefties - could be that “townie” thing for all kids outside of NYC and LA. No matter that they would live on campus and that it’s Northwestern (for heaven sakes!) or DePaul or CCM, or CMU – going AWAY to college means leaving town. :-h
D had Point Park MT audition on campus yesterday. Her first-really enjoyed it. I know they audition a thousand or more, but we liked it there! D signed in, all auditioners had a quick group talk with Recruitment head and parents and given a number. They were split into 2 or 3 groups. They sang and did monologues and took a music theory test. D is pretty good at theory but still found it pretty hard. She sang and did her monologue in one room and then they had her do them again in another room. Then a fun dance audition to You Can’t Stop the Beat. Anyone have a similar or different experience?
@actingdreams - I sent you a PM
@fancytheatrekid Same experience for D at Point Park except for the order. She started with dance and moved to theory test, songs and monologues. Same dance call number.
We put Wesleyan on our list for a financial safety and just found out the entire audition time is 8am-6pm. They want everyone to be there for the entire time I hope something Amazing comes out of it The Drive is 2.5 hrs. I am just venting that the audition time is a total of 10 hours. That’s all @-) [-O<
Hello everyone! For Acting, at CMU, does anyone know if they are passing to the second room, the same way they do for MT? I seem to have heard that is the pattern for MT, but have heard less for straight acting. All input or recollections welcomed!
@FourStars - it seems to be a thing with Acting as well. There is no “hard” evidence that I know of… and they say over and over it doesn’t mean anything at the parent sessions… but I have not heard of someone admitted for either MT or Acting that didn’t get passed during their audition
@FourStars interesting! Many of the audition experiences seem to come from MT it’s literally crickets for the Theatre/Drama experience
I feel like this is a really dumb question but will they even HAVE the famous “pass to Barbara” room in Chicago- for Acting??
@laylamom - that is the million dollar question! Let me know! I have not heard an actual person describe an Acting person being passed to the second room, but I know that is generally considered to be the path for acceptances.
@FourStars and @laylamom we know one boy (acting audition for CMU a couple years ago) who was passed to the second room. He now attends there. For what it is worth.
Also - they seem to redirect a few MT kids each year into the acting slots.
@laylamom @FourStars we have CMU audition on the 7th. If you find out before, please let me know. I can’t believe I bother stressing about this (I’m human I guess :(( )) sera sera
@FourStars -I know. I think I haven’t read that either (accept maybe AT CMU- but I’m so not sure). I know we are not suppose to look for signs but it is human nature. I’m always looking, I will be looking…
@actingdreams We Also! In the AM on the 7th. Perhaps we’ll meet!
@laylamom I think so!! you will not be able to miss me! lol. I’ll be the oddball out and probably appearing more drained than the norm. It will be our 9th Audition. I’m sure to be tired by then and I hope that my son will “Act” like he isn’t haha
@laylamom and @actingdreams my D also has CMU on the 7th in Chicago. Not reading into all of this is totally impossible. Got to get back to work so I stop obsessing!!
