My S was at the Jan 13 on campus and is also on “priority hold”. — Any news from anyone yet??
I am so thrilled to hear all the good news!!
@STHmom are you referring to Texas State? If so, my son got the priority hold email on Thursday and hasn’t heard anything else since. Ahhh the waiting!!
@STHmom - for Texas State? I think now we just wait/hope for a phone call, according to the email “in the coming weeks…up to May 1st.” Yes, brutal.
And @proudcalidad - congratulations on Fordham!
@MTmom2017 & @vpvpbp We are still waiting on Texas State as well! Fingers crossed!
@MTmom2017 Thanks! Feels like the right place for her. Still a couple London schools left (and can I just say here hat I really don’t want her going to London, but I won’t stand in her way if it happens) but Fordham was her top NYC school and it just feels right for her. Plus, I happen to like the area, but I guess that’s neither here nor there.
And yes, to everyone saying how brutal the process is, 100000% agreement. Especially for kids (and parents) who are closely tied to their emotions in the first place. But of course, this is how the industry goes as well. Still… ugh.
Those who got into LIU…are there two separate admits? Do you have to get in artistically and academically? Friend was sent a very confusing email. Admitted to program and can put in a deposit online but isn’t sure if she was academically admitted. Appreciate any help.
@Rizzo2 Yes, at least last year, the UA waiting list moved, and they have students in their freshman class this year who were originally waitlisted.
Hi All! My son just returned from Rutgers callback weekend and he said the entire experience was AMAZING. He was contacted by an MFA student prior to leaving who would be his roommate for the weekend. The Angels must’ve been watching over him because I was born and raised in KC, MO and his Roommate at Rutgers is from KC and has worked with my classmate on a lot of music producing (small world!) was really nice and they hung out when the time allotted and even made sure that he made it to the airport.
The faculty remembered his monologues from Unified’s and 5 minutes prior to auditioning in the black box theatre, he was told which one to perform. There was a lot of Light on him so he couldn’t tell who was in the audience during his performance. They provided all meals and the classes were great. He also had to take a sleeping bag with him and thanked me for getting a hotel room for the upcoming weekend lol
although it seems like the classes were really fast, their schedule is nothing like the brutal schedule that Juilliard has planned. They were split into 2 color groups on each day and while one group were performing monologues, the other group would be in Voice for 1.5 hours and then they’d switch.
As far as any “Feeling” if he was liked or not. He said this time he isn’t sure because they were so Poker-faced during his initial audition so he was caught off guard when he received the callback.
Also Kevin Kittle is AMAZING. He’s a theatre/drama genius and really knows his stuff. He has an impressive background
Hope this helps the future lurkers who may be searching for feedback
@actingdreams that is great! My D and I went for one of their Arts days and we got a chance to sit down with Kevin Kittle. My D seemed to be very taken with him LOL! No callback for her last year and they notoriously take very few in state kids…unfortunately for us!
@marg928 that explains the straight face at Unifeds. He liked the campus. Don’t worry, it seems like Chicago Schools (Private and Public) seem to be annoyed when our kids applied. For this alone, I sense a Rejection from DePaul and since 40 of my S classmates applied to UIC near home, he will most likely be rejected there too
Same. Getting nervous.
Congrats on Fordham! That’s so exciting for your D!
@actingdreams Thank you for sharing your S’ Rutgers callback experience. It sounds very positive. How long do you have to wait until you will hear? I hope maybe he met some nice actors, as well. That is a bonus at callbacks.
I asked about the decisions and like the no information, straight-faced experience thus far, they mentioned nothing about it. They just said “thank you” and that was it He met some kids from Texas, Virginia, and California. Unfortunately, no stars
@bisouu -
My son was accepted to LIU-Post last year for the tech BFA. The academic acceptance came first along with a notice that he had to have a portfolio review for admission to the major. He had the review and within about a week or so was accepted artistically.
If anyone is looking for an option for theatre schools still open for applications- take a look at Michigan State.
The BA program is non-audition and still open. The website clearly states -
If you’re interested in enrolling in MSU as a freshman but you missed the auditions for the BFA Acting program, we recommend enrolling as a BA Theatre Major (no audition required) and auditioning in the next cycle. You can still begin taking acting classes and working on other university required courses, then audition later.
What do you mean by unfortunately, no stars?
@collegecrazy57 Hi! I was jokingly saying no superstars but my son met nice actors of course
Oh okay, I was just wondering!!
