@collegecrazy57 I should’ve clarified to @FourStars. He was able to meet some really cool kids both BFA and MFA but there weren’t any well-known alumni there. They do have some great alumni from Mason Gross Most recently 13 reasons why on Hulu or Netflix ( I can’t keep up)
@Atreuh what a great option from Michigan. It’s nice that they specifically recommend that you go ahead and enroll and just audition soon after. All schools who have this option should look into promoting their programs this way. They may get more applicants and calm some of the anxious parents and students down a bit
My D auditioned for Chapman in January. She received a phone call and later email (didn’t get out of school in time to get phone call) clarifying what program she was interested in. Screen acting or Theatre. At Cal Arts 1/14 audition, she was given a card from one of the crew there and was encouraged to “go outside the box” referring to the other traditional schools that she applied to. We have yet to hear back from either! Received email from NYU stating asking if she had accepted any offers for early decision…and PACE has accepted academically with nothing yet. Ugh. No audition at UCLA.
My D is acting major
@DHoward being given a card and asked to shadow a student at CalArts seems to correlate with acceptance. There was an acceptance posted by someone a few days ago so definitely keep checking the portal. My D heard from Pace last year around March 10 so this might be the week!. The NYU email seems to have gone out to everyone from what I’ve read. Sounds like a good sign that she received a call from Chapman. My D was WL there last year and we never got any calls from them.
Hi @DHoward good luck to your daughter! NYU sent the general email to everyone or most of their applicants. Pace is going to be sending out letters early March perhaps this week. Interesting about the “go outside of the box” (what does this mean ?) Hope you hear from Chapman as well. I’m sure you will receive a response soon. I think our creative kids experience MARCH MADNESS too! :))
@DHoward And what did your daughter say to Chapman? Is she interested in both programs? I think the call is a good sign too.
Nothing from Fordham here either or from Texas state. :-(. She’s in to BFA acting at coastal Carolina and Marymount. In for BA at otterbein and ball state.
I was under the impression Pace made phone calls to Accepted students? When you say letters will go out do you mean rejection letters?
@DHoward Have you checked the Chapman portal lately? We got no emails or snail mail. I just happened to check the portal one day and a decision was posted. Good luck! This is a tough process, you’re not alone!!
I believe he was referring to the traditional theatre schools as opposed to Cal Arts. They could see on a form which schools she applied to. She felt very reinforced after the audition with the card but who knows?
She preferred the screen acting program but would like to be considered for both.
Has anyone heard a decision yet from Ball State BFA Acting? We had an email late last week saying that they will be notifying over the next couple of weeks but have spring break this week.
@mumssm we haven’t heard a peep about the audition. My daughter just keeps getting emails about the academic acceptance.
@mumssm actually, on Feb 18th, they said they hadn’t extended any offers yet and that’s the last she has heard from them
My D received a no via email for the Ball State BFA acting on Friday 3/2
Does anyone know the date that Syracuse will be sending out BFA acceptances? Thanks!
@Orion1325 I understood 3/15 for Syracuse.
@Orion1325 - If Syracuse is using same system as previous years… they should start sending things out as early as this Friday. In 2014 (when my D applied) they sent out waves of acceptances/waitlists/holds for entire university … it was very random. My D happened to be in the 3rd round that year (accepted 3/21) One of her friends accepted the week before her, one of her friends rejected the week after her. Upside - you only have to stress on ONE day of the week
@BrokeDad0530 Thanks for letting us know. So sorry to hear that you D got a no – I wish her lots of other acceptances!
